Chapter 79

Chapter 79

(Creed)

Aurelia’s scream pierced through the air as the jade necklace crushed in front of us, it was the copy of the necklace that I used to communicate with Eli. The pieces of the jade scattered to our faces, cutting our flesh.

“I’m not going to keep waiting,” I announced to six more people in the room with me. “I don’t even know what’s happening to my mate inside Richards’ territory. What if he hurt her after discovering the necklace?”

It had been thirty-one hours since she entered the enemy’s den and four hours since he found out that we were communicating. Since then, his place had been eerily quiet. There were no more sightings of dragons flying around his

mansion.

I could endure the lack of sleep and the dizziness when Aurelia teleported us here. I could keep going despite the hunger because I could not stomach any food knowing that Eli was back in the arms of her abuser. I could fight through the mental and physical fatigue. What I could not tolerate was this silence and my gut screaming at me about how I was losing my mate.

I shifted in my wolf form and passed by all of them before any of them could answer.

“Black,” Jacques called.

“In this life, we can’t have everything. If we do this now, then consider your child dead as early as now. Because he might not

survive.”

That was the only warning I got before the dragon king and his brother shifted in their dragon forms and flew towards Richards’ lair. I kept reminding myself that Eli would understand as I ran to where she was. Terrence and the Alpha King’s wolves were behind me.

We were almost at the gate when we heard screeches that I was sure was coming from the witches.

“That fool! What had he done? This is not a part of our plan!”

“This is why I warned you not to trust humans, Ada. They always let their emotions get the best of them.”

“What about our plans? What will happen to us now? Who will lead the dragons?”

Aramides and I glanced at each other. The witches still had no idea that we were coming. What were they talking about? What did Richards do that sent them panicking? I could smell their fear from here. They sounded dejected.

We smashed through their gates. Upon seeing us, the coven tried to flee but Jacques and Anson’s dragons burned them with their fire. Some were able to escape. We let the Queen handle them as we/continued to invade the mansion.

Apart from the witches’ shrieks, there was utter silence. The dragons were on the ground and looked like they had fallen into a deep sleep. How come none of them had woken up from the commotion? What the hell were they planning? Was this a trap they set up?

I stepped onto their massive bodies, Terrence even kicked one of their wings, and no one flinched. I returned to my human form and reached the front door. There were no guards and my wolf could not detect anything that could raise his hackles.

The door was locked, but it couldn’t keep me away. I kicked it open. Again, I was surprised by the sheer quiet that welcomed me. The first floor was empty, but I could smell Eli. She was sonicwhere around here, I was sure of it.

She was alive, I could hear her breathing.

“This is too simple. Too easy. What’s Richards scheming this time?” Terrence asked, carrying a rifle that he must have stolen from somewhere.

Chapter 79

I was too tense to answer. I could hear Jacques and Anson’s dragons flying just up above, guarding us and were still on full alert. I followed Eli’s scent. It brought all three of us to a certain room that for some reason, I did not want to open.

“You are taking too long,” the Alpha King snarled as he pushed me away and slammed his fist against the knob. The door creaked open as the knob hit the marbled floor, making a loud sound, and awakening the two people sleeping inside.

Eli and Richards, looking like any ordinary couple in the world, like me being here was a bother, like I disturbed their fucking moment.

“What’s the meaning of this?” I asked, my gaze turning to my mate. He had gotten inside her head again. Otherwise, she wouldn’t have slept comfortably beside him like this, I tried to reason out to suppress the new wave of agony that slammed into me. “Eli-”

She stopped me by screaming, her eyes widened as if she was seeing a monster in his naked form. There was no recognition in her face. Instead, shock and hatred mixed in her beautiful eyes until the hatred had eventually won.

Fuck.

Not again.
