“A little kindness costs nothing.” I told Creed after his room inspection was over, referring to how he openly threatened the butler in front of me.

“For you, maybe. For me, it’ll cost my sanity,” he answered casually as he closed the door with his mana to ensure that no one else could get inside unless they were given our permission.

There was a crimson glow around the doors and windows. Creed weaved his mana as if he had been using it his whole life. No one would believe he had only learned it in a few months. What he did was a complex reinforcement around them. I could see the chains upon chains of mana that could only be unlocked by him.

“How do you do that so easily?” I asked, impressed. “You have only been a hybrid recently.”

The only thing I’d learned so far was roasting things. Anything other than that was too taxing for my pregnant body.

The alpha general shrugged. “I was told I had been learning mana for a while now.”

I frowned. “Care to elaborate?”

“I had a head injury during the war that made me lose some of my memories.”

If this was Creed Black functioning with missing memories, what more if he had all of them? The things he could have done would be unimaginable. Besides, what were the chances that the two of us were both suffering from partial amnesia? The only difference was that for the past months, I was lost. He wasn Being the man that he was, he seemed to know what to do.

Damn. Some people were truly born lucky. While others like me were just born… pretty.

After a while, I covered my mouth, my cheeks turning red. “Did say that out loud?”

“You did.”

My humiliation level just reached a thousand percent. How come that every time we met, I always ended up making a fool of myself?

Creed chuckled.

And God, what a sound. If I had my phone with me, I would have recorded that and listened to it each time I was having a hard time which meant I’d have to listen to it every day. Because fucking hard times just kept coming my way every day. Uncle Anson said trials were necessary to help me reach my full potential as a tamer and a dragon warrior, but I’d rather not become that kind of person than go through each and every trial

They could all say I was a coward and I’d let them. I was that tired of the world and all its tricks. Can’t they see it yet? I was not a warrior, damn it. I simply wanted to enjoy my pregnancy. simply wanted to enjoy life.

I couldn’t believe I survived Landon only to end up in this situation.

“How did you survive with missing parts of you?” I asked because God knew I needed a clue.

He shook his head, his smile disappearing. “I didn’t.”

My brows furrowed. “But you are here now.”

Looking fine as hell.

“Exactly, Vicious. I am here now because I did not survive it.”

Creed didn’t add anything to his sentence and held my gaze. And with just the two of us here, it was making me nervous. “Why are you looking at me like that?”

“Like what?”

“Like you need me to survive.”

“I fucking do.”

“Because of my blood as a tamer?”

I heard our blood could do wonders to many supernatural beings.

In an instant, Creed was standing just a step away from me, frowning, and still looking unfairly handsome. “I don’t give a flying fuck about your blood, Vicious. I am not here for that.”

“Then what?”

Because I couldn’t understand why a billionaire alpha general was working for me while looking more imposing than a dragon royalty. Why would he want to be involved with me? With my baby?

“Are you saying you don’t feel it too?” he whispered instead.

“Feel what?”

“This pull between us.”

I did and that was the reason why Creed was as dangerous as the stalker because he also posed a huge threat to me. But I learned my lessons with men, and I paid for it with years of mental torture. In fact, with this stalker thing involving his kind, it was like I was still paying for it.

Instead of answering, I turned away and headed to the en suite bathroom. “I’ll pretend I didn’t hear that. Feel free to go to your own room while I take a shower. Just make sure you do that after putting back the protection spell around here.”

I didn’t wait for his reply. I stormed towards the en suite and was about to lock the door when Creed invited himself inside, making me gasp.

“What the heck do you think you’re doing here?!”

He remained unfazed despite my outburst. “I was ordered to stick around you twenty-four-seven, your highness.”

“Still, you didn’t have to follow me here-“

“Have you forgotten already? Your stalker can use mana. What if despite the reinforcements I surrounded in this room, he still sneaks in and takes you with him? I wouldn’t know that with h door separating us. To be able to guard you effectively, I need to keep my eyes on you all the time.”

“But this is too much!”

“Nothing is too much when it comes to your protection, your highness.” He leaned on the wall casually, looking more like a model than a guard with his suit jacket removed. “Now, it’s either you start showering or you keep complaining, it’s up to you. But just so you know, the meal will be served soon.”

I clenched my hands. “I hate you.”

“Would you like me to help you strip, princess?” he asked, refusing to listen. “I’m good with my hands.”

I screamed from frustration.

Again, he just chuckled which made my blood pressure rise. I thought I was incapable of feeling anything anymore but since we met, I’d been feeling a ton of things at once. Even this irritation made me feel alive and it was terrifying.

“Just don’t think I’m here.”

As if I could do that when his massive presence was making this room smaller than it already was. His masculine scent wrapped around the four corners of this place and it was making me think of unholy things. Not to mention that my body reacted to only him.

In this tiny space, I could feel his heavy gaze on my body as I turned around and unzipped my white cotton dress. My ears and my face were red from embarrassment as I unhooked my bra. The challenging part these days was taking off my panties.

Creed cleared his throat. “Would you like me to help you with that, your highness?”
