Claimed By My Husband's Enemy novel Chapter 96

Chapter 96

(Creed)

An explosion of colors, that was how anyone would describe the dragon heir if they could voice it out. Elianna strode towards her mother and uncles on the table they set up in the greenhouse.

Eloise Rosewood was her daughter’s opposite. She wore a gray dress, gray hat, and possibly gray shoes. There were no other colors like she had a personal grudge against them which could relate to. The only colors I could tolerate were the ones her daughter was wearing.

There was no smile on her face either and still, the once celebrated alpha hero in our realm, Aramides Beckett, gazed at her like she was his own moon goddess.

I heard my godfather arrived early this morning and went straight to duty like he could not help himself. He was standing on the side, directly facing Eloise, smiling and looking like he got a few screws loose after meeting her. I remembered feeling extremely disgusted by the sight of him like this before, but the past days had softened me up. Now I was just simply disgusted.

While the entire werewolf population thought the great Aramides Beckett was currently exploring the world and was enjoying his well-deserved vacation, here he was, a mere guard to a woman who would not spare him a glance.

How the fierce had fallen.

‘As if you are any better, Aramides mouthed when our eyes met briefly. Of course, he could tell what was going on in my mind. He helped raise me after all.

“I exist in my mate’s eyes at least.”

I get to touch her, take her in my arms, and even bathe her myself, things he could only dream of doing for Eloise. Just this morning, I bathed the princess and assisted her in wearing her clothes, especially her underwear, a task I would volunteer to do for the rest of her life.

When I first heard about this job from Terrence, I was not particularly thrilled. In fact, I declined before he could finish what he had to say. I did not give a damn about the honor and glory he talked about or whether I would be guarding the second most important creature in all the realms, the dragon king being the first.

Although after meeting my lady boss, I realized I could not find a job better than this. I could not even consider it a job when I was enjoying every second of it a little too much. Good thing I did not have to worry about the pack. Dale and Lizbeth were ruling it on my behalf as they should since I would soon relinquish my title to him after their wedding.

My beta had finally gained the courage to propose to my sister last month. I could not find any suitable candidates as the alpha and luna of my pack other than those two, especially Dale who had worked tirelessly next to me from the beginning.

Like my godfather, I wanted to step down. He had Terrence he could trust with the realm while I had Dale and Lizbeth. I had worked my ass off for decades, putting the realm and the pack first before anything else. Being with Elianna was me finally putting myself first.

Eloise’s grim expression in front of her brothers had changed in an instant upon seeing her daughter, making the two men shake their heads in disbelief. She beamed at Elianna and why wouldn’t she? Why wouldn’t anyone? My mate was a ray of sunshine in her multicolor dress, red ribbon in her hair, huge, colorful pearls as her accessories for today, and neon orange flat sandals.

Her emotions showed in her clothes. Eloise seemed used to the colors, her siblings though had to rub their eyes which made me grin while Aramides chuckled quietly. When Eloise smiled at her daughter, I had come to understand where Elianna inherited her radiance and why the great Aramides became a total simp.

“You came,” Eloise muttered, pleased.

Twice actually. In the shower. Anything more than that and her daughter would be late for breakfast, making me feel just as pleased. I squared my shoulders and lifted my chin.

Three pairs of eyes pierced through me. Aramides, Anson, and Jacques. It was as if they could sense that I had a different version of coming.

I shrugged.

To each his own.

‘Behave, you asshole, Anson mouthed, his eyes full of threats

‘That was rude, Jacques complained.

Successfully unlocked!

‘Goddess, when could I do it too?’ Aramides muttered helplessly

“Join us,” the dragon king invited us as soon as Elianna took her seat beside her mother.

I did not hesitate anymore. I sat beside my mate, my godfather beside me, and then there was Alistair who arrived as well.

Chapter 96

“Have you met Aramides Beckett?” Anson said as the servants began serving dishes. “He will be your mother’s new bodyguard from now on.”

“Uncle,” Eli suddenly blurted out, her eyes widening, as she finally took notice of the man who was now an emotional mess just hearing the word. She looked surprised by the word that she uttered. And then she smiled, that smile I wanted to hide since Alistair was around. That smile should be exclusive for mates and family members only.

“I don’t know but for some reason, I feel a certain connection with you. It must be your surname. It’s like you are also a part of this family. Or are you perhaps related to my father? His name is-“she paused when Eloise cleared her throat. Something flickered in Elianna’s eyes as she glanced at her mother although it disappeared too soon as her smile returned. “Can I call you uncle?”

Longing crossed Aramides’ eyes before saying, “That would be an honor, princess.”

“Just Eli.”

The former king smiled. “Thank you, Eli.”

Breakfast started and Eloise looked away although before that, saw the guilt cross her eyes for hiding the truth about the

two.

“You are looking lovelier today, Eli,” Anson commented, rubbing his eyes once again. “What beautiful blinding dress you have there.”

“Blinding indeed,” Jacques added. “It suits you, princess.”

“Thank you, uncles!” she beamed.

Alistair coughed. Aramides and I grinned. While Eloise and Eliarna were engrossed in their pregnancy conversations, Alistair glanced at me.

“Something seems to have changed about you, Black.”

“Thanks. Nothing has changed about you.”

He stared at me, his eyes widening a fraction. “You remembered didn’t you?”

One night. That was all it took for me to realize that I had no reason to be jealous of the baby daddy.

All along, I was the daddy.

The muted energy in Elianna’s womb must be because of her tamer abilities or something more which I planned to explore. Just one night and I had reclaimed what I lost. I didn’t sleep a wink at all. It was like the dam of memories had been broken and it spilled throughout the night although reclaiming them had consequences that I was now certain not the goddess’ doing. It was a work of people who were against Elianna and me together. I’d developed cuts and wounds overnight as if there were unknown forces stabbing and cursing me, preventing me from remembering.

Because apart from the colors, the dragons could see the change in Elianna’s aura. The golden glow in her was back and it was brighter than before. She looked lovelier today because she looked better, because little by little, through our bond, she was regaining her strength which solved this puzzle.

The enemies were afraid of us, that’s why they were doing this.

They knew that together, we were stronger.

I glanced at my mate, my princess, the sole reason now for my existence. She looked up from her plate and stared back at me with innocence.

I smiled and caressed her cheek.

‘Remember me, love. I’m waiting.’
