Chapter 99
(Eli)
Dark. Flickering light. Helpless screams that were far too familiar I was sure they were mine. The fury in Lizbeth’s eyes. Her retreating form, the bile in my throat, the bitterness in my tongue, and the surge of rebellion in my chest. Those memories flashed in my head so quickly as I stared at the face of the woman who was unfortunately related to the man whom I wanted to be a part of my life.
They were super close.
Like a package deal, like my sometimes-eccentric mom, my most of the time arrogant uncles, and me. The siblings’ love and respect for each other was evident in their eyes.
Dale protectively put himself between me and his bride but then Lizbeth shook his head, held his hand, and looked at me with guilt dancing in her eyes.
“I think I’d let you do whatever to me if it makes you feel any better. I feel like I’ve known you for a long time and I’d do anything to be your friend and now, to be your sister.” Something vulnerable creeped into Lizbeth’s voice. “But maybe after the reception?” she added thoughtfully. “I can’t ruin my hairstyle right now. We still have a photoshoot but after this, my hair is all yours.”
“Honey!” the groom protested. “You said in your vow that everything about you is mine now. That means your hair is now mine too. You can’t just offer it even to a dragon heir.”
“Then shall we offer your hair instead?” Lizbeth asked innocently.
Dale’s face lost color as he instinctively reached for his hair. He cleared his throat. “I mean… we can talk this out like adults. Nobody has to lose their hair, especially on their wedding day.” He glanced at Creed helplessly. “Right, alpha?”
The latter just casually sipped on his wine like he was letting me and his sister deal with this although his other hand was wrapped around my waist protectively. It didn’t help that I was distracted by his immaculate side profile. In his gray suit, Creed looked striking. Thanks to him, my uncle, his general, and Terrence, the female guests didn’t know where to look. They were salivating in every direction.
As for Lizbeth, well, she was only offering her hair. It would grow back soon, especially for supernatural beings unlike humans. It wouldn’t be enough as compensation for the damage she brought to my life. And I bet she could feel it that’s why despite the lack of memories; she was willing to make amends. If I asked for more than her hair, she would surely give it without hesitation. Her willingness to make things right made my anger deflate.
“Maybe after your honeymoon,” I said instead. “You need to stay pretty for that dummy,” I pointed a finger to her husband.” Anyway, congratulations on your wedding.”
Dale looked relieved while Lizbeth was full on sobbing, ruining her makeup in the process. “Thank you. Can I… hug you?”
“No.”
The thought of her hands on me gave me goosebumps knowing that they were the same hands she used to betray me.
Lizbeth looked defeated. I let out a harsh breath. “Maybe after your honeymoon and I’d successfully kick you in the shin.”
Her smile returned, hope for reconciliation brimmed in her eyes. As the pack alpha’s sister, she would recover from a kick although once that happened, I would make it hurt before I called it quits, before I chose to forgive. I had no choice. She was a part of Creed’s life whether I liked it or not.
After they proceeded to entertain the other guests, I spotted Creed looking at me with a smile that was too risky for my heart. He led me to the dance floor.
“Why didn’t you stop me?” I asked as we swayed gently to the music. “You know my temper. What if I really made a scene and pulled her hair?”
“You may be vicious, but you are not unreasonable, Elianna. Tell me when you have set a date, hopefully it will be after you give birth. So, I can properly teach you how to kick ass.”
Another surprise. “You’d let me kick your sister’s ass? What kind of a brother are you?”
“A fair and reasonable one.” Creed grinned. “Liz is a trained warrior. Without mana involved, she will definitely survive your attack. Despite the brave face she put on, she has a really soft heart. And she likes you enough to sacrifice her pride. Not to mention that her subconscious and even her wolf knew she had done wrong so if a kick in the ass is what she needs to learn a lesson or two, then I would let her have
“Some tough love you have right there.”

He dropped his smile. “You remembered what took place between you two, didn’t you? You were the victim; you can punish her as you see fit.”
A man was letting me call the shots. He was so different from the men I encountered that every day, I kept being shaken.

Chapter 99
“What did you do when you found out she hurt me?”
“I almost forgot she was my sister. I had to remind that to myself every minute of the day while you were unconscious so would not go back to her and do something I might regret.” For second, Creed seemed tortured like he was remembering that very moment. “I banned Lizbeth from getting close to you and refused to see her. I only saw her again after the memory loss. Even then, I unconsciously put some distance between us. I love her but I am still learning to forgive her for what she did to you. But it does not mean you have to force yourself to do the same.”
I tucked my face against Creed’s neck. “Thank you for saying that, for not pressuring me to get along with her just because she is your sister, and for taking my side.”
“Always.”
It was such a vulnerable moment for me that I didn’t want it to end, but then we were interrupted by another familiar voice.
“Can I have this dance?”
It was Terrence Beckett, the newly crowned Alpha King, smiling at me as Creed scowled at him.
We were starting to catch attention. That’s why after nodding at my ultra possessive bodyguard slash roommate, he was forced to hand me to his friend.
“Just one dance,” he growled at the king. “I will be watching.”
Terrence just shook his head in amusement before he gently laid his hands on my hand and waist. “Do you remember me?” “Will it offend you if I say I don’t?”
I only knew his position in the realm.
“Too bad. We were pretty close before the memory loss. We once sat on the beach and bonded over Creed’s embarrassing moments.”
My brows furrowed. “He has one?”
He pouted and I smiled. Terrence was so easy to talk to. Unluckily for him, I could see right through him. I could see right through the carefully crafted mask he put on that nobody seemed to notice except me. “You are still here despite all that?”
The Alpha King’s casual smile faded. “What?”
“How bold of you.” My smile dropped. “You shouldn’t have come here, Terrence.”
