Chapter 100

Chapter 100

(Creed)

“Do you know what else the people from the ancient times call the tamers apart from ‘new blood?” Dale asked as we watched his bride and Aramides sway on the dance floor. The latter was standing while Bridget, his now stepdaughter, was sleeping soundly on his back with her little arms wrapped around his shoulders.

Dale looked every bit of a devoted father tonight. Once the girl grew tired of playing around, she searched for him and asked to be carried. Now there she was, snoring adorably without a care in the world.

“What?” I answered, my gaze automatically reverting to my mate who seemed to be having a good time with Terrence. And when she giggled about something he said, the male guests glanced her way although my wolf’s growl paired with the dragons’ threatening roars made them look away, the loudest being Anson’s and Alistair’s.

Both men were preoccupied with women on their laps that I thought they would not care less. It turned out they were still protective of the princess despite being with the partners they chose for the night although when their dragons growled, the terrified women fell from their laps, screaming and running like their asses were on fire. The two sadists just grinned and clicked their wineglasses while Elianna and Terrence seemed to be engaged in a deep conversation to notice what was going on.

Gone was the Alpha King’s smile as he led my mate back to me when the song was over.

“What was that about?” I asked, my hand automatically wrapping around her waist.

Something crossed her eyes, something I could not fathom, before she shook her head and put on a smile. “Nothing. So, what were you two discussing about?”

“You,” Dale answered, like a little boy that was too eager to share what he discovered.

“What about me?”

“They said that in ancient times, tamers were once referred to as ‘divine chaos’. I read that from the archaic writings.”

“Before you continue, when were these ‘Creed’ writings recorded?” Elianna asked, curiosity swirling in her eyes although I did not like the naughty spark I was seeing there.

It was Dale’s turn to frown. “Creed writings?”

“Yeah,” Elianna nodded, feigning innocence. “You said ancient and archaic. Weren’t you referring to your alpha right here? And to his writings?”

Dale’s jaw dropped while I massaged my throbbing forehead. The Alpha King who obviously heard about it and was about to step away from us suddenly paused and did a quick spin, facing the three of us. Both men blinked, glanced at each other and then at Elianna who was sipping her tea like she did not just attack me, and then Dale and Terrence cackled, their faces red from laughter, stealing the attention of some of the guests.

“Quit laughing. You think both of you are not spared? We are the same age here which means we are all ancients in her eyes. But if we are ancient…” I shot back, emphasizing the ‘we’ like an oversensitive idiot. Or were old people usually like this? “Then what do you call your uncle right there?” I pointed out Aramides.

If I was going to be attacked, I would not go down alone. I was bringing them with me.

“Prehistoric.”

Another laughter burst at our table. The poor old man turned to us and smiled warmly without any idea what his beloved niece just called him. Aramides even raised his thumb like he was relieved to see our table full of life not knowing it was

because of him.

“And your uncles?” Terrence asked, wiping his eyes.

“They are on another level.” Elianna shrugged. “One of these days, I’ll make sure to ask them what they felt when they saw Moses for the first time and the sea parted. They must have witnessed that themselves.”

Even I had to smile at that.

Terrence was now smacking the table like a drunk moron, completely forgetting his composure and position in the realm. There was no saving Bridget anymore. She was now awake and fully alert when Dale’s shoulders shook so hard he was wheezing.

After hearing what Elianna had to say, for the first time in my life was relieved to be called ‘ancient’. In fact, I think I could boast about that word now knowing that there Successfully unlocked! e.

“All of you seem to be having a good time,” Anson said, wilu suuenly appeared before our eyes, silencing our table. Alistair followed next. And then Aramides who walked towards us with my sister. “I am envious. Care to share what it is about?”

Elianna chose this perfect time to focus on eating, leaving Dale, Terrence, and me to answer, as the rest of the men glanced at us with questions in their eyes.

“Well?” Aramides asked. “Is it supposed to be a secret? Now I ah more curious.”

“Grandpa?” Bridget mumbled, still on Dale’s back. “What does ‘ancient’ mean?”

“It means old. Why?”

She pointed her finger at Elianna who was now munching on her sandwich like the rest of us did not exist. “That pretty lady in green called Uncle Creed ‘ancient.”

Triple A laughed.

“At least, the little girl’s honest,” Aramides said proudly. “What else did you hear, little girl?”

Terrence was about to escape when Alistair blocked his path.

“We are a bit bored. Go ahead, entertain us with your story,” Anson cooed with a bright smile. “If you continue, I will give you gold bars from the dragon realm.”

Bridget’s eyes grew wide. “She also called Grandpa Aram pristoric.”

The men frowned. “What do you mean?”

“Pristoric,” Bridget repeated, her tongue twirling..

“What is she talking about?” Aramides asked Dale directly.

My beta cleared his throat. “She meant prehistoric, sir.”

The little girl nodded. “That word. What does it mean?”

Alistair and Anson chuckled while Aramides’ smile had vanished. He was now glaring daggers at my mate. I blocked his view of her so she could keep eating to her heart’s delight. His wrath would be attended to at a later time. Right now, my mate and our baby were starving. They needed to eat.

“It means very old,” Anson explained, grinning.

Determined to salvage his prehistoric, wounded heart, Aramides added, “There has to be something else your Aunt Eli said, Bridget. Tell us more and I shall reward you with a little pony you have always wanted.”

Now Bridget looked just as determined to answer. “Moses. She said she’s gonna ask her uncles what they felt when they saw Moses and the lake parted.”

“It was the sea, sweetheart,” Lizbeth corrected, grinning from ear to ear.

“Yes. Sea.” Bridget giggled as silence completely took over our table. “Mommy, I’m gonna have a pony and gold bars after this! But I’m confused. Who is Moses? What does that sentence mean?”

“It means your Aunt Elianna’s dragon relatives are very, very old,” Aramides answered as he raised his chin, his wrath from earlier now forgotten as Alistair and Anson’s attention were focused on just one person in this entire venue.

“Get out of there, Black,” Anson said, gritting his teeth. “I am going to talk to my niece.”

“No.”

I always knew that her mouth would bring her trouble one day.

Unfortunately for all of us, that day was today.

We were all targeted. None was spared. ‘Divine chaos’ truly suited her. That was exactly what Elianna Beckett brought: chaos. I was just not sure about the divine part yet.

As Aramides laughed like a madman, Anson roared. “Elianna!”
