Claimed by the Biker Giant (Maxine and Tank) novel Chapter 137

Tank POV

Having Uncle Simon and Tandy here helped keep me grounded, or I would have been a mess if it were just Fixer and me.

They talked me through everything, and then went to the kitchen, and we played happy families, as if everything was normal, and in a way it was.

It made me realize that, regardless of what was going on in my life, the world doesn’t stop because I am hurting. Just like when my life changed, when my parents were taken away from us, life went on, when all I wanted to do, was shout out to the world, that I was hurting because they were gone, this was not as bad, but it was still a close call, I didn’t lose two, I lost hundreds in one moment, one call of votes, and life as I had known it was gone, changed forever, even if we were asked to return, it will never be the same again. They had taken something away from me, with that vote, that can’t be returned.

Tandy and Fixer kept the banter at the table light, making jokes and growling at Uncle Simon occasionally for some infraction. Zero’s laughter was infectious, and it was hard not to join in. I missed my brother, even when we lived in the clubhouse and could see him behind the bar; it was not the same. This kind of banter and laughter was not forced, making it all the sweeter when it was natural and fun. Zero was different behind the bar. I am glad he has delegated, or passed the bar work to someone else, as he had to because he was gone so long. Yet to find out if he goes back to bar work, or something else.

“That cobbler was to die for, you’ve got to make that again,” Stick said, as she took the last slice from the plate.

“Yep, can do anytime, if that baby of yours wants it.” Fixer joked back, blaming the baby for the second slice of dessert, as she rubbed her tummy in satisfaction.

Zero and I did the dishes. We weren’t told to, I feel we both wanted some time to be just us, and kicked the others away. Some bro time, as sadly been missing.

Once the others had left, and it was just us, I asked to confirm he was moving in.

“Did you see the room, Zero? It was decorated as close to what yours looks like in the clubhouse.” I tentatively started, unsure how to proceed. He might be angry at me for throwing in my cut. I was angry, hurt, and needed to make a point.

“Not yet, you can show me after we finish these dishes. I have to say, it has been a while since I had stood at the kitchen sink, like this with you, doing something as simple as drying dishes.” Zero grinned at me, like this was the best night ever, that I had given him my favorite toy, for him to play with.

“Yeah, it has been a while, the clubhouse doesn’t cater for us to have times like this. This reminds me of mum and dad. I miss them, and with us investigating the accident again, it just brought it all to the surface.” I said, thinking about what I had just said.

“What? Stop, take a step back, try that again. What pictures of the investigation?” He looked at me wide-eyed, and in shock, we had covered a lot in that meeting, but nothing about the pictures of that accident itself. We covered more about the Jones gang, if and when we would attack them, and the link between that family and the Jones gang, all not nice.

“Sorry, should have led up to that better. I have some horrific pictures to show you, if you are interested, from the accident site. Fixer’s Grandma had a box sealed to open on her twenty-first, or on her marriage; it had a lot of missing information or hidden documentation, to do with the accident in it, pictures of mum and dad’s bodies, newspaper clippings, autopsy reports, everything.” I didn’t want to bring it up yet, but it’s out there now, bringing down the mood we had set.
