Claimed by the Biker Giant (Maxine and Tank) novel Chapter 189

Tank POV

A home birth, I have no clue about having a baby at home. To be honest, it scares me to death. I know in the early days, all women had them at home, so I guess if everything is healthy, it will be fine.

Her twenty-first birthday is in two weeks, and Jenny was planning, along with Sticks, a party, not too many people, and not here, at the clubhouse, making it a barbecue, and a fun night, so that when Fixer has had enough, she will be able to head home, and the party can continue. My twenty-sixth was two days later, so they are combining the two together. I don’t mind, having mine at the same time, I never have a party, not since our parents died, but it will be more for Fixer than me. She will be the star of the party.

“So, what’s your plan for this afternoon?” I asked as we finished lunch and were cleaning up the kitchen.

“I am meeting up with Tandy, to talk to those people that will be looking after our home, since the building has been completed, the garden needs some changes done, and a tidy up, and the house cleaners can start, I didn’t have them start yet, as we had too much already going on, and I needed them to sweat a bit, because of the attitude they gave me, when they first met me, not knowing I was their new boss, they have been talking to Tandy about returning, and even happy to price reduction. I had Tandy double-check them out to ensure they had nothing to do with B the Jones family before I agreed to meet up with them again. Most have been family employees their entire lives, and their mothers and fathers before them. They know I won’t take any disrespect, and have learned a valuable lesson on judging a book by its cover.” Fixer replied, and I am glad she held off having them here. We had too many new faces around, which made it harder for security, but they handled it professionally and with tact.

“Want some company?” I asked, remembering their attitudes on their last visit.

“Only if you have time. Don’t want to take you away from club duties.” Fixer was always considerate of others.

“I would prefer to be with you. Prez was busy, and taking tomorrow off to bring Sticks home, and we won’t be here because of the Astore, visit, there was little left to do at the club, they are still talking about Bruiser, and what we should do, but the rest of the ex-members they going to let back in, but not all at once, they have six returning on Saturday, when we have an open house, and will be workers for the night, then same the following week, until all are back, but the debate on Bruiser was still more against his return, than for.” I thought about Bruiser; he’s been around a long time. I am finding it hard to believe, that Cricket was solely the reason he turned against us, he had to have been wanting more for a while, maybe seeing how well I did, upset him, he might have.

“Let’s go then.” We climbed into Tank’s truck and headed out. Two SUVs were following our guards. I had already informed Dirk I was headed out and where, so he had a detail ready to tag along.

“We can get something for dinner while we are out. I have spoken to Tandy about the meeting today, I want a cook, or kitchen hand, I don’t want to be the one cleaning up other peoples mess, not that we have had that issue yet, but thought best get used to someone now, so I don’t have to worry when the baby comes, will be good for little Max, when he starts solids to have someone to make what we need, and have it in the fridge. Doubt Sticks has a clue about making baby food.” Fixer was babbling on about what she wanted from this meeting, and I tried to keep up. Half the stuff she was talking about went over my head, but that was cool. Fixer sounded like she knew what she wanted, and if that kept her happy, I was happy. Never thought we would have household help one day.

“Hey, do you think we can fit the child’s seats in this truck? Or do we need another vehicle, for when we take our child out and about?” I suddenly thought about baby seats, or are they capsules or whatever, got to keep them safe, my truck might have to be a work vehicle, and get a large SUV or something for the baby. Something that can include Sticks’ child, too, for when they go out together.

“We can look at what’s available in child seats, while in town, and you can find out by trying one out. Surely the store has one we can see if it fits or not.” hadn’t thought of that. They had demonstration ones on display, and we could grab one and see if it fit.

“I gave the group your suggestions. Martha has undertaken a course on baby foods and other nutrition for children. Betsy has taken a first-aid course. Others have started online courses, like Paul here, on the water plants for around the swimming hole, and Dan to help look after that area, with the maintenance of the flying fox, water slides and Jimmy was getting his certificate as a life saver, for the weekends and school holidays, and his senior first aid certificate was renewed.

Others have taken up different courses, not asked for, but feel might be handy later.” Tandy was rabbiting on, and on about what they had started, trying to prove they are interested in continued work with Fixer, and I guess me. Looking around the room, most looked nervous and hopeful.

Tandy pushed a file to Fixer, and she opened it, so I could see. If there were a bio on each person, what they do, the courses they are going to take, or have started. Pay rates, expected time off, and some want to live on site. It was quite comprehensive, and I figured Fixer had some idea of what she was looking at. Fixer had surprised me a few times with her knowledge of business, but knowing how much her Grandpa had tried to teach her before his death and the notebooks, it shouldn’t have. Look at her pedigree; no wonder she could do so much, almost like she had a photographic memory, in most things.

“Good. I agree to most of this. It says ‘stay onside, exactly where we had two bunkhouses. For security, we can build another for staff if need be; it doesn’t take long, and they have their own kitchen, bathroom, and laundry. The only ones to live in my home once the bunkhouse was built would be the cook and the two nannies.” Fixer said, and worked out the final details later.

They talked for a bit longer and agreed on a new bunkhouse and on the cook staying in one of the ground-floor rooms. There were three down there for staff; they can share those three rooms till the bunkhouse is built, or can live off-site.

“Right, I can get that building started and be ready in about a week. A lot of it is prefabricated and only needs to be shipped in. Send me the contracts and I will review them and get them back in a few days.” After a few more thank-yous and handshakes, we left Tandy with our new staff and headed to the baby shop to look at what we needed.
