Tank POV
Watching Fixer interact with Bruiser was an eye opener, her compassion for others, was outstanding, I felt guilty for having harboured dislike for the man, he hurt us alot, and broke something inside of me, but when I thought about it, that is really dug deep, it wasn’t the man himself I disliked but the ‘direction Bruiser had turned, and by the sounds of it, he had a lot of outside influence pushing him before he made a drastic mistake, that cost him more then he bargained for.
Fixer was doing exactly that, fixing things, and this man, although Bruiser didn’t need fixing, did need a new direction, and one I am on board with, as I started to hear her ideas.
We were on the way home when I had an idea.
“Fixer, how about our child, how do you feel, asking Bruiser to be the childs protector, he or she will need security, and I trust Bruiser in that capasity, he had alway had a cool head under pressure, and let the young ones be idiots before stepping in, and his love for the underdog, the lost on the streets, he shows he had compassion.” Was I trying to sell this too hard?
“Agree, was thinking along the same lines, hence wanting him to have some real training with D team, it’s still early days, but I too think he would be perfect. With what Cricket did to him, he mi be a little more cautious in the future, but who knows, maybe one of the young ladies in our staff might catch his eye and meet someone of better morals than Cricket had. Talking of Cricket should we tell him?”
“Yes, will address that when we have Stephen and Dirk present in case he loses it. I would like to know more about what he knows about Cricket, and how she came to be in the club, besides him thinking she carried his child, like who brought her in. Do you know?” She asked, and I had to think. Most of the time, I was out in the workshop, avoiding women, like the plague, so I can’t think of who she came with, if anyone.
“To be honest, I have no clue. I was out back, like when you and I met, always hiding away from the leeches they call women; they won’t take no for an answer, and so stayed away as much as possible.”
“Thought as much, I bet Cricket came at the same time as Doris, or Pixie, but managed to be more discreet and less pushy, less obvious.” That had me thinking: when did those girls start showing up? I think it was Cricket first, then Pixie, or was it Doris? Too much for my head. I never went out looking for women, not since my incident, when I hurt that chick, trying to have you know.
Bruiser was sitting on his bike, under the shade of a tree, when we pulled up alongside. Tank reached out and placed his thumb on the sensor, and it began to open up.
“Follow us,” Tank called out, and his bike started up, rumbling slowly behind us.
We parked in the garage, and Bruiser parked outside. He removed his lid and looked around. The security headed to another large shed that was converted to house their vehicles. I think they want.
another shed, but they haven’t asked yet, and I wasn’t about to offer. They are far enough away from the main house, love having too much land, further than the eye can see, more than the township, which I still own so much of, and can’t get my head around it.
“Dirk, you would remember Bruiser? Can you and Stephen come to my office?” Fixer walked away, not waiting for an answer, and Bruiser came a step behind us as we headed to her office.
I took the single lounge chair, pulled Fixer onto my lap, and made this meeting less formal with that gesture. The men took their seats and waited for one of us to speak.
“Bruiser, we need to clear the air before we start.” Fixer started, her voice calm. He nodded.
“What can you tell us about Cricket, and how she came to be in the club, trapping you?” She continued.
“She arrived at the same time as four other girls on an open Saturday night, around the same time as Doris, a few years ago, didn’t think much of her at first, just another fuk, but she never targeted any other guy, would sit beside me, or on my lap when I took a seat, followed me around, talki about rubbish, that I hardly took in, think I fuked her two or three times, She wouldn’t come ev Saturday, maybe miss a few then appeared again, I didn’t know she was playing me before she calmed to be pregnant. Don’t know where she came from, but I think all the girls came from the same place, or close to it. Jones gang rejects the guy’s call to them.” That made sense based on what we had found out so far. She kept her past closed, giving only enough to stop asking questions.
