Claimed by the Biker Giant (Maxine and Tank) novel Chapter 194

Fixer POV

Was I taking a huge risk giving Bruiser a second chance to protect my child?

I don’t think so. I have seen him interact with the young lass at the cafe; if he were a bad man, he never tried to help her and her family. He spoke with kindness and determination regarding the homeless and street children. That if he couldn’t return to the clubhouse as a member, he would help those on the streets and the poor; that was all needed to hear. He couldn’t hide that passion as he spoke; no, I made the right choice.

But to have my judgment questioned by an employee? That was not acceptable. He can ask for my reasoning, share ideas, and offer suggestions. But do not make it sound like I had made an error, as Stephen had.

“Sorry, Fixer, that was not my intent. Forgive me. Dirk and I will train, Bruiser, get him ready to protect others. Test his mettle.” I got the message; Stephen doesn’t trust him, yet, and I get that. I don’t completely trust him, but I feel he has learned his lesson, and if I don’t give him a chance, who will? Someone needs to show some guts to forgive and move on. Only time will tell if he was up to snuff.

“So, Bruiser, would you like to join my security team and learn to protect, rather than enforce?” I asked because if he said no, that would be the end of it; I wouldn’t offer again.

“Yes, thank you for giving me a chance,” Bruiser said, shaking my hand and Tank’s.

“Can you give him a room in one of the bunkhouses? Once the one for the house staff is built, it will take a lot of pressure off the other bunkhouses, plus it won’t be long, and some of you will return to your other duties, and only the twenty will be left here.” I add, looking at Dirk, as he was led as far as I was concerned.

“Will put him in a room near us,” Dirk said, with a smile. They will keep him close, watching his every move.

“Dirk, I want to gather as much information on the street people, size, age, etc. Need to see volume, and if too many will just buy clothes, but if with in reason, can buy out the second hand store, of clothing, or talk to the store, about a voucher system, that the street kids and use to buy clothing, and I will pay the store, once a week, for each voucher, have yet to work out exactly how this will work.” My mind was racing on how to use Bruiser. Get him back on the right path, so to speak.

“Have a small team on it. Anything else?” Dirk asked, standing up, ready to do my bidding.

“Bruiser, take this opportunity, and don’t stuff it up. Don’t break the trust I am giving you with this offer; you won’t get another one from me.” Tank nodded beside me, Dirk grinned, and Stephen shook his head. He doesn’t trust Bruiser at all, and can lay money on it that he will put him in a small team, so he can keep a close watch on him. One step wrong, and he will come down on him like a load of bricks.

“Dirk, you have a team ready for tomorrow. I doubt we need many, considering where we are going?” I asked, not at all looking forward to it, I can almost guarantee that Grams will make this larger than promised, even with Gramps trying to hold her back.

“Yep, six you are already familiar with, and I am going to accompany you too, can’t miss the opportunity, to see how things go with the pilot.” I picked up what he was trying to convey straight away.

Bruiser frowned. He wasn’t in the loop; he knew nothing about the helicopter or about my wealth, and I wasn’t ready to share it. Being on a team, he would learn that I am the boss and should be protected, but he might just associate that with Uncle Simon. Who was just out of sight, listening and watching. I could feel him, his eyes on me, and Bruiser. Guess I will get his thoughts on this when Bruiser leaves the office.

“The other business has been taken care of, new bunkhouse, arriving soon, as ordered. The groundwork has already begun. The lads have suggested having the new one for themselves, as it will be further away from the main house, and leave the closest one for the house and ground staff. A new security system will be set for the outside buildings, separate from the house, can still access it through your phone or tablet. Talking about security, what level will Bruiser on?” Dirk looked up from his phone, where he had been reading reports.

“Dirk, get Stephen to back off, or we’ll send him back to basics. He should never question the boss in the company; he should ask to speak alone, discuss his grievances privately, and send him away, taking half the team with him. I am expecting trouble from Jones’ gang, but they have weakened considerably after hitting a few other clubs recently, I think they have lost direction as a gang, but I don’t see them as a major threat anymore. We shall discuss razing that clubhouse and best remove that threat after I get a report back. Have Bruiser be placed in the B team. I want to see what he can do and have him on the night shift, away from club members’ eyes for now. Explain that we want to keep him moving here quietly for now, for his safety, while things settle. Talk to him, find out where his head is at. We are no longer watching the clubhouse. Move that team back. We can wait for Prez to ask Fixer or Tank for more help if needed, but they should start sorting themselves out now rather than relying on us. I hear you are joining us tomorrow. I, too, will be in that helicopter. Have your second take over, with supervision of the construction. Also, Fixer, how do you feel about a second helipad and hangar? I think we might need to bring another one here, besides mine. Your large chopper stays in the main hangar, and make the larger one to hold my chopper and a spare that we could have here for emergencies. They have a chopper a few towns over that they use for accidents, but feel this town could support one of their own say?” Uncle Simon was a people person, loved to help out as much as I do.

“We can get a chopper set up just for rescues. What about the medical team? Do we pilot?” I asked, liking the idea more and more. I had already started funding an upgrade hospital and was in talks about a whole new building next door with modern equipment. building will be kept for overflow, and other specialty work, and maybe rehabilitation, which lengthy.

“We have security men here that have a pilot’s licence, we can use them, and we have men that are good with rescues, we can utilise the men we already have, and can do training for others that are interested in that sort of thing. How about Jenny? When she finishes her training, would she consider joining our emergency team? Give her a different experience.”

“Jenny? Guess we might have to discuss it at some point, for now, let’s work on who we have, and yes to another helipad, but bigger, one that can house more than one chopper, and further back, so as not to interfere with the main chopper area, keep work and home away from each other.” I replied, unrolling a map of the main house, what we have built, and the changes being made to avoid crowding the home area.

“Here, I like to keep our home looking as it is, not cramping it up, with all the other added buildings.

How about over there, too? We can make that area just for transport. Work vehicles, workshop.”

“Good idea, want more away from home, and we can make another road access over here, for that section, and maybe a bunkhouse to house temporary workers. Move these and these, and clean up the zone around the home, and we’ll get on that straight away. Great, with that settled. Dirk, get things rolling, have the team double-check all workers who enter. You know the drill.” Dirk nodded, scratched his beard, and left. His mind looked busy he had a lot to change, and not all of it would be what he liked, but he would follow orders and maybe talk later with Uncle Simon.
