Claimed by the Biker Giant (Maxine and Tank) novel Chapter 313

Chapter 313

Doom POV

It hurt to pick Tracey up and carry her to our room.

Our room. I like the sound of that.

It pulled on my stitches, but I wanted her in my arms. She didn’t squirm, gave me a sort of hug, resting her head on my chest, right on my stitches, I had there, that pain where she rested her head, a reminder that I was alive because of her bravery and quick thinking.

I pushed that thought aside and got back to where I was headed. This choice meant more to me than I thought it would, and it was something to think about later.

BUT, SHE chose ME! Screamed in my head.

Said yes to moving into my room.

Whoop Whoop.

Yeah, not leaving my head just yet. I still can’t believe it.

Then to take a nap, yeah, didn’t expect that.

Bed nap ever.

Tempest, the ever–helpful woman, personally packed Tracey’s belongings and brought them to our room. Yep, that woman has been a good investment in Storm’s and our lives. Never really making big fuss with no legs, some would milk it, where Tempest owns it, and it wouldn’t be too long, and Tempest would start to learn her new legs. Her legs have already been measured for length and done as much as they could, and will get more than one set type. It’s been an interesting journey for Tempest and Storm.

Food was simple; this would have been Tempest’s doing, thinking of us, and what we might be in

the mood for.

“After dinner, come to my office; we have some decisions to make.” Uncle Simon didn’t say anything more, leaving the rest of the meal quiet until Tank broke the silence to talk about his son Razor and being selected for the state team tryouts. That raised the tone of the room till the food was done. I ate two bowls of soup and three bread rolls, and I was hungrier than I thought, but not hungry enough to have a steak dinner, my stomach was a little unsettled after all the adrenaline i had used today. I really did think I was going to die; they were taking advantage of me, as I started to tire. Taking on two professionals wasn’t easy. Thank god for all the times I wrestled with my mates in group fights, which gave me a small chance.

I carried Tracey to the main office, took a seat, and kept her on my lap; this office was large enough

to seat us all and soundproof, like most offices are. It had been scanned for any listening devices before, and Uncle Simon was satisfied it was safe to talk in.

“Firstly, I have to commend you, Tracey and Doom, for discovering the invasion. Well done, and for staying alive, that wouldn’t have been an easy fight. You are lucky that none of the wounds were deep and life–threatening, although you did lose a lot of blood, which would have started to wear you out. Tracey, thank you for your quick thinking. That shooting practice paid off, and the presence of mind not to do the kill shot was admirable.” Uncle Simon started as usual, giving praise first to ease us into the real reason for the meeting.

“Thanks.” Tracey took the compliment, but, like me, didn’t feel the fight was all that good; it was a life–or–death fight for us both, and we managed to live. I will be reviewing that fight for years in my head, and how I could improve. Not that I want to be in that situation again, anytime soon.

“There have been a lot of changes over the past month or so, and all these changes open the place for danger. They were changes that needed to happen. With changes came unfamiliar faces, and I feel we let the ball down. We should have worked harder to fix the black spots around the home. Further out from the house, which could have waited, and that’s my fault, for trusting the men and

ladies who have been with this family for many years. Those two ladies and the security man are in

the cells, waiting for further interrogation.” Dirk informed us, having stood up to talk and pace, that he had now completed his report. He sat back down and looked at Uncle Simon, who called this

meeting.

“Dirk, we were not looking at pointing the blame at anyone, just fixing holes. You are more family than an employee; you have always been my friend.”
