Claimed By The Mafia Don (Ariella and Asher) novel Chapter 379

ARIELLA

When I finally walked out of Leon’s study, I felt a lot better about the decision I had made. So I decided to go into Asher’s office.

I lightly knocked, even though the door was partially open, and peeked inside. Asher was on the phone And the moment he saw me, he smiled and motioned for me to come in.

So I did, closing the door softly behind me.

“Yes.... that won’t be a problem..... Okay, keep me updated,” he said before hanging up.

Then he stood up from his chair and came to meet me halfway. He pulled me into a hug. A real one. Tight and Warm.

And then he kissed my forehead before letting me go.

“What is that for?” I asked, lifting my head high and looking at him.

“Nothing,” he said. “I’m just happy you’re here. Can’t I be happy you’re here? Can’t I show you that?”

“I don’t know,” I replied. “I just feel…”

I stopped myself.

“It’s not important.”

“No,” he said. “Tell me.”

I hesitated.

“I don’t know… I feel like there’s a reason you hugged me like that. It felt different somehow.”

“You’re right,” he said. Then he pulled us toward the sofa in his office, guiding me to sit with him.

“I saw you walking into Leon’s study,” he continued. “And you came back different from when you walked in.”

I frowned slightly.

“How did you know?”

“I just knew that you had finally decided to give this a chance,” he said. “And I know it’s not easy for you. I thought you might appreciate the hug.”

A small smile tugged at his lips.

“But since that doesn’t seem to have impressed you… " Maybe I should do something else instead,” he said pulling me closer.

I immediately placed my hand on his chest.

“No. Not now....and not here. A girl needs to breathe.”

He laughed softly, his hand brushing over my arm.

“So,” he said, “what did you find out in your little investigation? You seemed to be sneaking in there.”

I rolled my eyes at him.

“Well, they were laughing in there, and call me curious, but I wanted to know what they were doing.”

“And what were they doing?” he asked still smiling.

I smiled faintly.

“Leon looks really happy. And he’s actually listening. He’s having a great time studying with her… and I see it.”

“Great,” he said. “You see? I told you.”

Then he stood and walked back toward his desk.

“What are you doing?” I asked, getting up and moving to sit in the chair in front of him.

“You want to help me?” he asked.

“Yeah… maybe,” I said. “I’m so tired of staying in this house without anything to actually do. And I didn’t really go to university, so it’s not like I have a degree.”

“There’s a lot to do,” he said. “We have charities we run, community houses… let’s not forget the clubs and casinos”
