Claimed By The Mafia Don (Ariella and Asher) novel Chapter 66

Chapter 66

It was only after we had both come down from our high that I realized how wet I was-how wet the bed was. The room was dark except for the faint glow of the moonlight seeping in through the window, but even in the dimness, I could feel it-the blood. Large amounts of it, sticky and warm against my chest, in my hands.

Asher got off me, which made me whine softly.

He asked,

“Are you okay? Did I hurt you?”

“I’m fine,” I said, grimacing as I tried to absorb the soreness and the sharp sting of pain that came with it.

He collapsed beside me, and as I turned to look at him, I saw how drenched in sweat he was-how pale he was becoming. Then I saw the blood again and realized it was coming from his arm. And then it hit me-through all of it, while he was on top of me, kissing me, holding my hair, my neck, keeping me close -he had been using his injured arm. His shot arm.

I winced as I sat up in the bed, suddenly aware of just how soaked I was. I had bled too. I glanced over at Asher-he had blood on him as well. His pubic area, his thighs. The whole bed was a mess-our bodies slick with sweat and blood. We just lay there, shocked, dazed. Covered in everything. And Asher… he seemed like he had passed out. Maybe he had fainted. Maybe he had fallen asleep. I didn’t know.

But I was panicking.

“Asher? Asher?” I said, tapping him on the chest, brushing his hair back, and trying to open his eyes with my fingers. My movements were gentle, slow, afraid-afraid that he wouldn’t respond.

His eyelids finally fluttered open, and he groaned.

But it wasn’t a groan of pleasure-it was pain.

“Shit,” I muttered under my breath. “This is bad. This is really bad.”

I got off the bed in a hurry, planning to go get Luca, when his hand reached out and touched me. It was feather-light, barely there, like he had no strength left in him.

I turned to him, alarm rising fast inside me. Panic tightened my chest.

He looked up at me and forced a small smile. One that I knew must have cost him everything.

“Please put your clothes on,” he whispered. “I would hate to kill Luca just because he saw you naked.”

He smiled again, even tried to laugh-but ended up coughing instead. That cough sent me straight into a

panic.

He looked at me with pleading eyes, and I sprang into action-flinging open drawers, searching through wardrobes, my hands grabbing whatever they could find. I didn’t even know whose T-shirt I pulled on. I

found some sweatpants and yanked them up. They didn’t fit, but I tightened them with the strings around my waist the best I could.

Then I ran. Out the bedroom, down the hallway, into the living room.

It was dark. I couldn’t see Luca.

“Luca!” I shouted.

He jumped up from the sofa, and I nearly screamed from the surprise.

“What the fuck?” he said, startled.

“It’s Asher. It’s bad,” I said quickly, already turning around, and sprinting back toward the bedroom.

Luca followed on my heels.

We rushed in together, and the moment Luca flipped on the lights, I realized-

It was much worse than I had thought in the darkness.

“What the fuck happened here?” Luca said as he looked at Asher on the bed, then turned his eyes toward me. That’s when I realized Asher was naked on the bed, bleeding out, and my blood was on his penis and his thighs.

I immediately ran toward the bed and started covering him with the sheets.

“It’s nothing I haven’t seen,” Luca said as he went closer and started checking if Asher was breathing.

“Is he alive?” I asked. I was so scared.

“Of course he’s alive. He’s not dead-”

“But he’s going to be,” I found myself saying, panicking, feeling like I was about to lose my ability to breathe.

“Do not faint on me,” Luca snapped as he came to me. “Bring the medicine cabinet. Bring everything. He needs-he’s lost too much blood. And towels!” he shouted.

I ran out. I didn’t even know where that damn thing was. I rushed to the bathroom, grabbed everything I could, and brought it back toward the living room. They hadn’t disposed of the things. I grabbed all of them and returned to the bedroom.

Luca was trying to close Asher’s wounds, and I was freaking out.

“Come here and put pressure on this, help stop so much blood from flowing out,” he said.

I was shaking as I walked toward him.

He looked at me and said, “If you keep on shaking like that, you’re going to lose him. Do you want him to

die?”

“No.”

“Good,” he immediately shouted. “Now keep your ass together and press this on his arm without losing your shit.”

Then he said, “I have to make a phone call,” and left the bedroom.

I was left there. With that bloody mattress. With a bloody Asher who was no longer responding. But I could see his chest rising and falling.

That was a good thing. I’m supposed to think it’s a good thing. It means that he’s alive. That I haven’t lost him.
