In a time of dispute, right in the heart of the Frost household with Father absent Rocco took the lead, as he always did in moments like this.
Here I stood before him, holding the evidence of the so–called Viviana’s cruelty. The one they all believed had begged for forgiveness.
She hadn’t. And she never would.
Seraphine stepped out casually from the bedroom but froze the instant she saw my state. Her eyes widened in immediate concern.
“Snow?”
For a long moment, Roc simply stood there, gaze fixed on the wastebasket in my trembling hands. Then he gently took it from me and headed into the living room. Sera and I followed close behind.
He stopped abruptly, eyes locked on Viviana, who sat smiling at the TV beside Eshan, almost like a psychopath.
“Viviana?” Roc’s question sliced through the room, restoring a tense order as the air thickened. “What do you have to say about this?”
Kashi, who had been cuddling Mirena, paused and rose slowly when he caught my stare. Eshan turned too, gaze shifting from the basket to Viviana, waiting for her response.
“What’s… wrong?” Kashi asked cautiously.
Roc sighed almost wearily.
“Ask your
so–called true–blooded sister,” he gritted out, anger simmering. “Did you go into Snow’s bedroom while she was out?”
Silence descended again, this time nerve–wracking. Viviana sat up straighter, preparing that familiar fake apologetic expression. But no one believed it this time.
“I have a meeting tomorrow with my manager,” she began softly, “and… I needed a dress. I went into Snow’s bedroom to borrow one.”
“And you tore it while you were in there?” Roc pressed.

“It’s cheap fabric,” she replied dismissively. “I honestly thought it was a rag. I didn’t know she still wore it.”
My heart wrenched deeper at her words. I lost all restraint.
“What? Cheap?” I stepped forward, voice shaking with fury. “And even if I don’t wear it anymore, does that give you the right to tear it into pieces? What about my H.O.W.L. profiler card? You thought that was cheap trash too? Is that why you snapped it in half?!”
Gasps filled the room. They hadn’t realized the shattered card was in there too.
“You broke her identity card?!” Eshan was beyond stunned. “She won’t be able to access the top floors without it.”
Cold dread washed over me. Viviana acted panicked, moving quickly with an apologetic look.
“I truly… am sorry, Snow. I didn’t know you’d need them. It was all a mistake, and…”
“It wasn’t, and we know it,” I cut in, voice rising helplessly with each word. “You were jealous of the dress. Jealous of my job. That’s the naked truth. You were angry, stormed into my room, and vented it on my things. That’s exactly what happened.”
“Jealousy?” she repeated in mock awe before scoffing at my face. “Why would I be jealous of you? A rape victim?”
“Stop… Viviana…” Kashi warned, but she barreled on.
“Why would I envy you, with scars you’ll carry forever? Divorced at twenty–two? A disgrace to your true–blooded family, to this family, to yourself? You think I’d spare one moment being jealous of you?”
Her words sank deep, each one a deliberate stab. That was her winning card and she played it fully.
I nodded slowly through the onslaught, then stepped closer and smiled, almost gratefully.
“Don’t push me too hard, Viviana,” I murmured. She raised an eyebrow. “Trust me… the only reason you’re still here, free, and not rotting in the jail you belong in… is because you’re the true–blooded Frost. For my brothers‘ sake, for Father’s, I’ve held back. But I swear on everything I stand for… if not for them, I’d spend the rest of my life making sure you rot behind bars until your last breath.”
Tears welled up as the vow left me. I turned, sniffing, and headed to my bedroom. But in the hallway, I slowed.

The tension, the heaviness, the pain, it all surged, blurring my vision.

I sighed shakily, opened my bedroom door, and tried to reach the bed. I flopped onto it, fighting to reclaim my sanity, when the door opened again.
Kashi appeared in the doorway. I sniffed at the sight of him.
Quietly, he walked in and sat beside me, pulling me into his arms for a hug. I rested against his chest, settling, letting my body finally feel at home.
I lowered my gaze but then felt warm trickling from my nostrils.
Slowly, I pulled back. Kashi looked at my face and went stunned, horrified.
“Snow…” He cupped my cheek in horror. I blinked, weak and drifting. “Snow?”
I began to go limp. He held me tight, calling desperately for help.
Rushed footsteps burst in. Roc’s face appeared next, urgent.
“Hospital. Bring her now. Eshan, get my car keys.”
Chaos erupted. I blinked, fighting to stay conscious, but couldn’t.
my head
Dark blood trickled from my nostrils, and the last thing I felt was the hammering, agonizing pain exploding in my brain.
