It was the insistent ringing of my cellphone that woke me from sleep, forcing my eyes open.
Groggily, I reached for it on the nightstand beside my bed and glanced briefly at the screen.
It displayed Ares, and a small frown settled on my face. I wondered when I had changed Ares’s contact from “Honey,” the name I had saved it as years before.
Shrugging that off for the moment, I answered his call, sitting up to lean my back against the soft pillows on the bed.
“Ares?” I called sleepily, and a small silence came from the other side. Then a shuffle of movement before he spoke.
“Snow?”
There was a tone of surprise laced beneath his voice that made me open my eyes wider. I paused, suddenly taking in where I was. In the hospital ward room.
“Ares, where are you? Why am I in the hospital?” I asked quickly, surprise rising in my voice, and another silence stretched from his side.
“You are in a hospital?” he repeated.
“Yes,” I replied, frowning deeper now. “Where are you?”
“Um… I am at work, dear. Are you okay?” he responded quickly, urgently, with that same concern I had grown so accustomed to over the years, and I sighed shakily.
The weight of weakness settled over me heavily.
“I’m not really good. I feel weak, and… this throbbing headache in…”
“Snow?” The sharp voice of Mirena came from the doorway, and I snapped my head up to see her standing there, gazing at me in wonder. “My good God, Snow, you are awake?”
She rushed over to the bedside, and that was when I went still. No. I went literally cold when the door opened further and my three human brothers poured in.
I stared at them in the greatest awe, watching as Kashi moved at once to my side, relief beyond words shown on his face that I was here, alive.

He cupped my cheek to search my eyes while I stared into his, the memories shattering back brick by brick, pulling tears that stung my eyes.
“Hello? Snow?” The voice of Ares came from the phone, and Kashi heard it.
With stunned slowness, he took the cellphone from me to check the screen, and without much explanation, he also knew already what had happened.
A chunk of memories had faded just a few minutes ago. All that had happened over the past weeks faded until now.
Kashi looked to my other brothers, who understood the gravity of what was happening.
“It’s getting serious,” Eshan murmured, taking my cellphone from his twin brother to disconnect it aggressively. He tossed the cellphone onto the bed and walked to the window, breathing shakily.
“Are you okay?” Kashi looked back at me to ask, but I wouldn’t dare to say yes. Never in my entire life, because… because I was not okay, and it was obvious.
What if one day… I forgot all the real truth? What if I forgot the reality? What then?
The door opened almost immediately, and Sera walked in with her mother. She walked up to me at once to search my eyes, then turned to Roc.
“She will go through some check–up, Roc,” she said almost urgently. “And it must be done today without fail. She is drifting.”
Roc nodded grimly.
“My dad is already on his way. I will sign the necessary paperwork. Let’s do it.”
“Alright,” she agreed and walked out.
Silence fell after her departure, and I sat there to think about what had accelerated the illness.
I had been fine earlier today, even yesterday too during my time with Cupid. So what had changed? What had changed?
As though to answer the questions throbbing in my mind, the door opened slowly, and Viviana slipped in silently. Her presence, those eyes, and that deceiving look… that was it.
Memories crashed back fully, and I swallowed hard.
She had crossed too much, but I had no choice but to let her be, all because she was a Frost. I

lowered my gaze to my knuckles and sighed shakily.

“Step out,” the voice of Roc came, making me go still. I lifted my gaze to see he was glaring at Viviana. “Now. Just stay out until things get settled.”
“Roc…” Sera began softly, but she knew when to agree with her man when he gave her just one look.
Viviana stood there, apologetic look on her face. She swallowed, saying,
“I am sorry, Roc. I swear to you I didn’t…”
“I don’t care whether you swear or not,” he murmured to her, tone quiet and at the same time threatening. “You stay out of this ward until my dad comes.”
Viviana also knew more than to linger and test his wrath. She looked at Eshan and Kashi for help, but none of them spoke, and I looked away to think about how my life was moving when the sound of the door opening and closing came, and she left.
I had talked to Ares. I had thought of him briefly there as my husband. That was until I realized we had long been separated.
I had known Cupid just weeks ago. He wasn’t even in my memory after the chunk was out. It was a possibility I might not even remember him if ever my memory drifted off again.
Dread clouded my heart at the thought, and without thinking, I reached for my cellphone to dial his contact.
If something was to happen, he needed to know so he could be prepared. So he could make me remember that he was the one I loved and not Ares.
Just him.
