It was the ringing of her cellphone that woke me. The repeated buzz, the unanswered vibration.
I opened my eyes to the rainy morning and realized the sound belonged to Snow’s phone but she wasn’t in the room.
I reached for it, eyes narrowing at the caller ID.
Mr Gerald.
The call ended and a text flashed immediately.
Mrs Snow, do you need the director’s order before you come down to work?!
Her boss from H.O.W.L.
Of course.
I got up, slipping my own phone into my pocket as I stepped out to the balcony. Looking down, I saw her curled up on the sofa, fast asleep. Soft. Vulnerable.
And the memories of last night washed through me like poison.
My shoulders sagged under the weight of my own temper. I shouldn’t have snapped. Shouldn’t have let the mask slip.
But I did.
I said exactly what I’d been thinking for years, that her body is trash, polluted by random men, not something I wanted touching me.
I shoved her last night. Put her back in her place.
She was stunned. Silent. Wounded.
And now, seeing her curled up away from me told me she was still hurt. She didn’t even sleep beside me.
A sigh escaped me as I headed downstairs.
She’s the one who made me lose it. If she hadn’t gone to Kashi Frost, her precious brother, to file for divorce. If she had just stayed quiet in this house like the decoration she was supposed to be.

If she had taken the insults from my mother and sister without talking back.
If she had just… stayed in her lane.

I reached the living room and lowered myself beside her. Tenderly, I brushed her hair from her face. She shifted slightly, letting out a soft sigh that almost tugged something buried in me.
My gaze drifted down her nightgown… then to the coat beside her.
She must have stepped out last night.
Probably for a walk.
My eyes trailed back to her bare shoulder, to the big swell of her breast peeking out because her strap had slipped.
She’s always been a busty woman. Perfect breasts meant to be sucked, held, used.
But those filthy men had sucked her nipples first.
And the memory of that always burned through me, disgust, revulsion, turning her into a whore in my mind no matter how much I tried to forget.
Still… I hated to wake her. She looked beautiful like this. Soft. Alluring.
But her cellphone rang again, jerking her awake. Her eyes fluttered open, blinking at me before memory hit us both like a slap.
She sat up, pulling her strap up to cover herself and took the phone from my hand, shifting away from me.
“Mr Gerald?”
His voice came loud enough that even I heard it.
“Come down to H.O.W.L now or resign, Snow! You’re a profiler, for Moon Goddess‘ sake! You’re supposed to be here when a case breaks! Goodness!”
He hung up immediately.
She stared for a moment, still half–asleep, confusion settling in.
Quietly she got up, grabbed the remote, and turned on the TV. The newscaster from S.G.F. Sweet Gossip Feed appeared.
“Earlier today we received confidential updates from Cherry Billions concerning the investigation into her husband, Mr. Hanba, who died days ago in his vacation house. Sources

The remote slipped from Snow’s hand.
Her face went pale instantly.

“Kashi Frost, son of the CEO of Frost Law Firm, a man hailed as the best lawyer across both regions…”
The newscaster was still talking when Snow tore up the stairs, running to get dressed..
She rushed to leave the house in panic.
The moment she shut the bedroom door, I pulled out my phone and dialed Veyron. He answered immediately.
“Boss?”
“Tell me.”
“It’s done. Cherry Billions agreed to give the false statement. She’s already at H.O.W.L.”
A smile tugged at my lips but it was too early for satisfaction.
“Has Kashi been arrested?”
“His warrant is still pending,” Veyron answered. “He’s too important to cuff easily. The director and his family are stalling, and his girlfriend Mirena Daylight is blocking the news from spreading. Her father, the CEO of Daylight News, is stopping all channels from carrying it. But they can’t hold it off for long.”
I sighed, nodding.
“Good. I’ll meet you at the office.”
I hung up, swallowing hard.
It was all too easy.
Greed always makes things simple.
Approaching Cherry Billions for a false statement was easy.
Bribing Wrinks, the head of the Detective Department at H.O.W.L, was even easier.
Now I just had to sit back and watch Kashi fall. Watch his name rot. Watch his empire crumble.

When he’s drowning, he won’t have the time or power to drag me to court.
And Snow… she won’t have time to think about divorce.
Soon she’ll break. Soon she’ll come running back into my arms.
Just the way I want her.
