Chapter 50
Snowflakes
Eshan made to go into the fan–meeting hall, but I caught his hand.
“Eshan, please. Almost. I beg you.”
He swallowed hard. It was so difficult, but he had to wait even though his woman was in danger. Brown Fash had snapped, and even his daughter looked terrified as she moved closer to Pinky.
“Angelic, come, let’s go. The flight awaits. We will return later for Miss Pinky’s autograph. Hmm?” Brown Fash tried to convince his daughter, beckoning at her, but Angelic shook her head. That made Brown lose it completely.
He shot up on his feet, reaching for Angelic, but before Pinky could rescue the girl from her deranged father, Angelic gave a small scream and slowly collapsed to the floor, passing out.
Goosebumps raced down my skin. Pinky dropped down beside Angelic immediately, shouting for help. That was when Brown Fash’s shoulders sagged.
“Help her…” he murmured, voice cracking with something close to madness. “Please help my daughter!”
The door suddenly burst open and the security guards rushed in, flashing their badges. Everyone in the CCTV room moved at once to join in. I stood there, rooted, watching Brown Fash’s reaction.
He seemed to be under a threat only he could see. Mentally, he was not sound. More help arrived for Angelic, and as they lifted her, Brown tried to follow, but Wrinks and the team blocked him.
“You are wanted for questioning for Mr. Hanba’s death. You need to cooperate and follow us.”
“I know nothing about my boss’s death. Part the way. I need to follow my daughter to the hospital.”
“If you truly want to stay with your daughter, you must cooperate with us and…”
“It wasn’t me who killed Mr. Hanba. It was Cherry Billions, his wife.” He snapped desperately. “Let me go meet my daughter. She needs me. Cherry sliced her husband’s throat and gave false information to cover her deeds. She wanted to inherit his wealth. That’s it. And I was pressured to say nothing. My daughter’s life is on the line. I am helpless.”
Goosebumps spread all over me, my heart sinking to the bottom.
The truth was out.
I tore my gaze from the screen as Wrinks cuffed Brown anyway, then stepped out to make a call, obviously to the Director.
I walked out too, my eyes landing on the lonely street outside. Then my gaze caught a figure on a rooftop several houses away. I froze.
The person stood up, carrying a bag, one that looked dangerously close to the shape of a sniper case. My eyes followed as the figure walked off, disappearing into the darkness.
Then I blinked. I might be wrong. I hoped I was wrong.
I hurried toward the hallway, ready to find the others, when I passed a dark corner and heard it.

“Mr. Ares Bani, I am sorry. I think Kashi will be released soon. The witness I purposely didn’t search for has been found and his statement has been collected. Kashi Frost will be released. I can’t help you…”
Her words died.
Wrinks’s words died the moment she saw me standing there.
My knees nearly gave way. My head almost exploded.
What did I just hear?
Ares?
Ares Bani?

“Breaking news coming directly from Mirena Daylight. As of tonight, Kashi Frost has been proven innocent of all false allegations and will be released from the questioning room in H.O.W.L. The real culprit in Mr. Hanba’s case has been found, as the only witness, Brown Fash, the night watchmanhas given a full statement. Cherry Billions had murdered her husband when he intended to expose her infidelity through media that night. After a search warrant was issued, evidence was found. Photos showing her affairs and her obsession with inheriting his wealth. She has been arrested and will be…”
Her voice, Mirena’s bright but nervous voice trailed off on the massive billboard above H.O.W.L. That was when I heard footsteps behind me.
Kashi.
I stood before the headquarters, staring at the billboard flashing the breaking news across every region. All channels aired that Kashi Frost was free, and the case had been solved perfectly well.
I lowered my gaze and saw my brothers hugging one another. We had arrived to get Kashi. Watching him from where I stood made heat rush to my face, shame, deep and cutting.
Again, all I brought him was pain.
It was because of me that he had suffered. Because without my involvement with Ares Bani, my brother would never have been dragged in for questioning.
Ares. He was the one.
The bastard.
I lowered my gaze and turned, heart sinking when a voice came.
“Snow?”
I froze.
Slowly, I turned to see Kashi standing there, staring at me with so much pride, so much love, love I didn’t deserve. Before I could bolt, before I could hide, he was already in front of me, pulling me into his arms. And I gave in. I leaned into him and sniffed back a sob.
“She’s grown up now,” Roc teased. “She’s the brain behind this whole plan. She’s smart.”

Kashi pulled back, smiling into my eyes.
“I knew she’d be the best profiler.”
“If only she hadn’t married that crazy man,” Eshan said, caressing my arm. I nodded, certain, finally certain.
“I’m divorcing him.”
“How about you come home now, Snow?” Roc said, his eyes serious on me. “You have no business living in his house anymore. Come home. The divorce battle will continue while you live separately. Hmm?”
Swallowing hard, I nodded. I had no strength to argue. They were right about Ares. He was never good for me. It was time to part ways.
And maybe… maybe it was time to start letting another man touch me.
A man like… Cupid Godlike.
Oh goodness… I had accused him of murder when it was Cherry Billions. I had suspected him of endangering my brother when it was Ares all along.
How would I ever ask for his forgiveness?
