No one realized how quickly time slipped by.
Before anyone noticed it, two whole weeks had already passed since Su Qinglan had given birth.
The rain was still harsh, but as the weeks passed slowly, it was not continuous and would stop for a period of time before continuing again, and the air in the forest remained cool and damp.
During these days, Su Qinglan had not stepped outside her treehouse even once.
Hu Yan and the others did not allow her to. They were worried the cold wind and rain might harm her weak body in the fragile period after childbirth.
So, she stayed inside warmly.
She spent her days nestled on the large, soft bed with her cubs curled against her chest.
The little ones had grown shockingly fast, as if they had been blessed with some mysterious strength. Their fur was thicker, their bellies chubby, and their tiny paws round and soft.
They looked like two fluffy, plump dumplings.
Every night, they rolled and sprawled across the entire bed, kicking their small legs and stretching their bodies in their sleep.
By morning, they would be found at the farthest corners of the bed, lying in strange positions... only the heavens knew how much they moved during the night.
Su Qinglan slept hugging them close, unwilling to let go. And even those naughty cubs refused to sleep in their own nest, creating a fuss whenever they were put there.
Because of that, the three beastmen husbands had quietly been pushed out of the bed.
The large bed that once belonged to all of them was now completely occupied by Su Qinglan and two domineering little cubs. The men didn’t complain. They didn’t even dare to, afraid that this ancestors would start a crying competition.
Instead, every night, they transformed into their beast forms and lay on the wooden floor around the bed... surrounding it from all sides.
They guarded her.
They guarded the cubs.
They did not sleep deeply even for a moment.
In the Beast World, newborn cubs and weak females were easy prey. Evil, ferocious beasts were often attracted by the scent of new life; they were curious, hungry, and dangerous.
And so, Hu Yan, Rong Ye, and Han Jue remained constantly alert, their sharp senses awake through every silent night. Their ears twitched at the smallest sound. Their tails flicked at the faintest movement.
Anyone who dared come close... would not leave alive.
Inside the tribe, much had changed over these two weeks.
Bai Lin’s child was already close to four weeks old; they were lively and energetic. Tu Yelang’s sisters in the tribe had also given birth on the same day as Su Qinglan, so their cubs were now two weeks old as well. Another rabbit female had given birth just four days ago.
One by one, nearly every pregnant female in the tribe had safely delivered.
Only Liu Shan’s due date remained.
She also began to explore the tribe more boldly, walking through the forest paths, looking at the treehouses, watching the beastmen train, and listening to the distant voices of newborn cubs crying in the night.
She no longer confined herself to darkness and silence.
Life inside the tribe moved forward.
As Su Qinglan lay in her warm room with her children breathing softly beside her...
The world outside continued to change.
But only she knew her heart was never at peace. So many days had passed, but still there was no sign of Xuan Long.
Every day she woke up with new hope that she would finally be able to see him and her younger cub. She knew it was a son—and how did she know it? Don’t ask her, she just knew it... call it mother’s instinct or not.
She dared not say anything in front of her beast husbands. They probably thought she had gone insane.
Because she clearly remembered when she mentioned the first time when all of them came back, that nothing had happened... the cub was alive, and Xuan Long would bring him back.
They looked at her with so much sympathy and even consoled her; they had already labeled her as having completely lost her mind in grief.
Su Qinglan had rolled her eyes at that time. They didn’t even want to listen to her words, let alone trust them, just thinking she had completely lost her sanity.
Huh! They are too hopeless... it’s better to wait for Xuan Long and let him teach these men a lesson. After all, behind his back they have cursed him day and night, which made her ears bleed.
