Clumsy Beast, Keep Your Paws Off novel Chapter 296

Chapter 296: Chapter 296: Xiao Yi and Xiao Er

Su Qinglan was sitting on the wooden floor, playing with her two chubby tiger cubs as they rolled back and forth like round little dumplings. They kept crawling toward the doorway, their round ears twitching as they stared outside.

The rainy season had not fully ended yet. The rain was much lighter than before, only a soft drizzle falling through the forest leaves, but still, she could not let them go out. They were newborns. Their bodies were still weak.

The cubs pressed their tiny paws against the threshold of the gate, their eyes full of longing as they looked at the muddy ground outside, as if they desperately wanted to roll in it.

Su Qinglan scooped them back into her arms.

"Xiao Yi... Xiao Er... not now," she said gently, giving them a soft kiss on their foreheads.

"When you grow a little bigger, you can roll in the mud as much as you like. But now you must stay inside and be good."

The cubs made funny faces at her.

They rubbed their small heads against her chest, acting coquettish and spoiled, as if trying to win her heart so she would change her mind.

She laughed helplessly.

She hugged them tighter, their round bellies pressing against her arms. They were warm, soft, and chubby, like little buns fresh out of a steamer.

"Xiao Yi... Xiao Er... don’t be naughty, or I will call Daddy to spank your little butts," she warned them affectionately.

Both cubs gave a soft rumbling sound, as if dissatisfied with her.

Just then, loud laughter suddenly came from outside the tree house.

The cubs instantly perked up, ears twitching, eyes glowing. They turned their heads toward the entrance at the same time.

Su Qinglan followed their gaze.

Outside, Su Mingxuan was walking toward the tree house, carrying a very large prey on his shoulder. His steps were steady and powerful, rainwater sliding down his face and hair.

The cubs became extremely excited.

Their little tails twitched wildly as they wriggled in her arms, wanting to jump straight toward their grandpa.

Su Qinglan smiled softly.

Her father always came bringing something... prey, fruits, herbs, useful things he gathered from far mountains. He never came empty handed. He always said that if he did not spoil his grandchildren, then who would?

Su Qinglan stood and walked forward, greeting him.

"Father, you’re here," she said gently.

Su Mingxuan gave a hearty laugh and wiped the rain from his shoulders before stepping inside.

Before Su Qinglan could even react, he had already taken both cubs into his arms.

He kissed their cheeks fiercely.

"Wahhh... wahhh." The cubs immediately made dissatisfied little faces.

Su Mingxuan only laughed harder.

He rubbed his soft beard against their chubby faces. His beard wasn’t prickly, but the cubs still wrinkled their noses and opened their tiny mouths in protest.

And they even tried to bite him.

But they had no teeth yet... only tiny white buds barely showing.

Their bites didn’t hurt at all. Instead, they only drooled all over his shoulder, leaving wet marks everywhere.

Su Qinglan scolded gently.

"Don’t bare your little mouths at your grandpa!"

But Su Mingxuan only laughed proudly.

"They are tiger cubs. Of course they must be fierce," he said with pride. "Their father is a great tiger... and their grandfather is the strongest warrior!"

His voice was full of confidence.

The cubs froze for a moment.

Then they looked up at him with bright, starry eyes, as if they understood his words. They puffed up their chests and let out tiny growls, imitating his tone.

"Meoooo."

Su Mingxuan burst into laughter again. "I feel like if I put them on the ground, they would immediately go to fight someone."

Just then, Hu Yan came in from the side.

His eyes softened when he saw Su Mingxuan holding the cubs.

She walked closer to the opening and looked out.

The world outside was fresh and glowing. Mist rose gently from the forest floor. Raindrops shimmered on leaves like tiny jewels.

For the first time in many weeks... the sky did not feel suffocating.

It had been almost one and a half months since the rains began... the long, loud, endless rains that seemed like they would never stop. But the great dome above the tribe had protected them all that time.

Because of it, their days had been safe.

They could walk outside, breathe fresh air, cook food, fetch water, and move freely without being trapped inside their homes.

No one went hungry.

No one fell sick.

Instead... many healthy cubs had been born.

The tribe was filled with laughter, new life, and hope.

Their numbers had only increased, and not a single person had been lost. Every beastman felt thankful from the bottom of their heart.

Even the lion tribe, who had taken shelter with them, was happy and relaxed. They had grown so comfortable here that they almost did not want to leave.

Su Qinglan held her cubs close, smiling softly as the sunlight brushed across the doorway.

The gloomy days were finally fading away.

Hu Yan stood beside Su Mingxuan, looking out at the clearing sky. His lips curled into a rare, relieved smile.

"If the rain fully stops in a few days," he said gently, "let’s hold a feast... to celebrate the children’s birth."

Han Jue and Rong Ye’s eyes lit up, and together with the tribe leader, they nodded in agreement.

Su Qinglan was also happy. She couldn’t wait to introduce her babies to the tribe and all their playmates.

"Yes," she said softly. "Let’s celebrate them."

She held the paw of Xiao Er... and waved it and said in a doting tone, "Does Xiao Er want to play outside... see, Daddy is going to hold a feast for Xiao Yi and Xiao Er..."
