Ronald was fundamentally opposed to Stella sharing a bed with her friends tonight.
Hull was equally opposed. He wanted to take Susie away, but she was looking at him with wide, pitiful puppy-dog eyes.
Her expression clearly screamed: I want to sleep with Star tonight!
In the end, Hull's heart melted.
He looked at Ronald with trepidation. "Boss, maybe we should just let them have their sleepover?"
Ronald shot him a withering death glare.
Hull quickly shut his mouth.
So one night really was out of the question?
Fine. He actually understood exactly how Ronald was feeling right now.
Admitting defeat, Hull said softly, "Susanna, let's go."
"I..."
Susanna sniffled, looking longingly at Stella.
Stella gave Ronald the same pitiful, pleading look. Right then, Finley came down the stairs and witnessed the standoff.
He immediately inserted himself, blurting out, "Oh come on, Ronald, don't be like that. It's just one night. What's the harm in a few girls having a sleepover?"
"Is it really necessary to act like Stella is having an affair?"
The moment the word 'affair' left his mouth, a suffocating, eerie silence fell over the room.
Yvonne exploded, "What kind of garbage is coming out of your mouth? Do you even know how to speak?"
Stella also glared furiously at Finley.
As for Ronald? If looks could kill, Finley would have been buried six feet under before he could finish his sentence.
Tegan's lips twitched violently.
She stared at Finley, completely unable to fathom why he would ever say something so brainless at a moment like this.
Did he have a death wish?
Susanna looked equally horrified. She had always thought Barnaby had zero emotional intelligence.
But Finley? This wasn't just a lack of emotional intelligence.
His mouth was a hazardous weapon that deserved to be exiled.
"No, wait, I just meant..."
"Professor Yoder, I strongly suggest you stop talking," Tegan interrupted hastily.
Susanna and Yvonne were also pregnant, so they naturally got the bed too. Thankfully, it was massively oversized.
It was nearly fifteen feet wide.
Yvonne blinked in shock. "Wait, when did Ronald buy a bed this huge? How did I not know about this?"
Stella blushed violently.
Hearing that, she immediately fell silent.
The bed had appeared shortly after she moved back in.
The three of them had plenty of room, but because they were all expecting, Tegan and Skye refused to squeeze in and risk crowding them.
Skye offered, "Star, you take the bed. The sofa is huge anyway."
"You take the sofa, I'll sleep on the floor," Tegan chimed in.
"Absolutely not. I had the staff bring in plush daybeds. I'm not letting either of you sleep on the floor."
It was the most vibrant and chaotic sleepover she had ever had.
There was no way Stella was going to let her guests sleep on the floor; that would be terrible hosting.
And despite the mansion having dozens of luxurious guest rooms, not a single one of them was willing to leave. They all insisted on camping out in her room.
