A few days later, Chloe had cleared out all the mutant beast meat she’d stashed in her spiritual space over the past six months. She only kept enough rye for her own base, selling off the rest.
After the apocalypse, crops became precious and irreplaceable. Once the rye hit the market, every base scrambled to get their hands on it.
Powered humans who didn’t have enough cores traded whatever resources they could offer, such as cutting–edge tech, mutagenic herbs, and mutant flowers.
By the time they left, Blaze Haven had come out as the biggest winner in this whole campaign.
The Blaze Haven folks were packing up to leave today. Just as Chloe was heading over to say goodbye to Alfred, she heard the sound of stuff being thrown and smashed around inside the villa.
A cup landed right by Chloe’s feet, breaking into pieces.
She lingered at the doorway, not knowing what to do.
Alfred’s face was shrouded in a persistent gloom, his gaze locked on the person in front of him, radiating murderous intent.
Noah stood aside, completely unbothered, minding his own business like none of this had anything to do with him.
Actually, he looked so smug.
Alfred’s voice rang out, sharp and full of anger. “Harvey, the Fletcher family treated you well. Why would you poison Noah? He’s your brother.”
As Alfred spoke, he clutched his chest, looking like he might collapse at any moment.
Then he turned to the middle–aged woman beside Harvey. “You’ve worked for the Fletcher family for twenty years. I never thought you’d betray me.
“You have taken care of Noah since he was little. How could you do this to him?”
Noah quickly stepped forward to steady Alfred. “Grandpa, don’t get so worked up. I’m fine.”
Harvey suddenly looked up, his eyes clouded with gloom. For the first time ever, he completely lost it at Alfred, his voice cracking with raw hysteria.
He said, “You think you treated me well, huh? Well, I’m kind of a Fletcher, too, just like Noah. Why does he get to be the high and mighty heir, while I’m left with nothing?”
Harvey pounded his chest, his eyes bloodshot as he glared at Alfred. “I’m just a nobody in this family. As long as he’s alive, I’ll never get my shot. The Fletcher family just treats me like a servant.”
Harvey’s face was feral with hatred. If it weren’t for those holding him back, he would have leapt to kill Alfred.
Alfred suddenly looked completely drained, sinking, weakly onto the couch. He looked at Harvey with a fierce gaze.
Chloe was walking fast, and Filip looked at her, confused. “Chloe, aren’t we going to say goodbye?”
“Yeah, let’s just tell the guards we’re leaving and head out,” Chloe replied.

Chloe glanced at the sky. The temperature outside had soared to 135 F. Even the powered humans were having a hard time coping.
Most of the people at Ebony Base were just regular folks, and the ice in the store was probably long gone, so they really needed to hurry back.
With the heat still rising, staying inside the base was the only way to feel safe.
They were hurrying along when they ran into the Bluehaven Base team, led by William, who was there to say goodbyes.
‘Captain Yates, our team is all set to leave today. What about you guys?” William asked.
their
Chloe nodded. “We’re heading out, too. Looks like we’re going the same way. Let’s stick together. I’ve still got your supplies in my spiritual space.”
Therefore, Blaze Haven and Bluehaven Base left together.
They wandered around the outskirts of Ebony Base for days before finally figuring out how to get out.
The blazing sun made the land feel like it was on fire, streams dried up, and the soil cracked under the heat.
Most of the grass had been roasted by the sun, and even the hardiest patches were wilted and limp, looking like they were dying.
A Base Truck and a dozen military vehicles rumbled across the cracked concrete, leaving a trail of chaos and dust in their
wake.
Suddenly, a bunch of bandits burst out from the waist–high grass.
They were in nothing but big shorts, their bare torsos red from the sun, with blisters all over. Their lips were cracked, eyes bloodshot, and they looked ready to kill at the drop of a hat.
One of them said, “If you guys want to pass, you’ll have to give us something.”
The Blaze Squad just rolled their eyes.
Emily snickered. “That’s such a lame slogan.”
Chiara stuck her head out and yelled at the bandits, “Hey, don’t you guys have anything better to say?”
The bandits‘ faces turned stormy at being mocked, “Cut the crap. Move it, boys. Grab all those vehicles”
These bandits looked a bit hilarious. There were more than forty of them, each holding some rusty old rifle.
They were gearing up for a showdown, but the next second, a boy stepped out of the vehicle.
The bandit leader was confused. “What’s this? We don’t deal with little boys.”
Chloe thought, ‘Well, at least this bandit has a shred of decency left!
After fighting mutant beasts in Riverside, Filip had leveled up a lot. He pointed a finger, and lightning struck the bandit leader right on the spot.
The guy hauled himself out of the crater, his body scorched and smoking, hair standing straight up as if he’d just been zapped.

“Get lost,” Filip said coldly. He obviously wasn’t out to kill anyone.
The bandit leader was about to say something when he suddenly saw a burly man coming out of the car.
His eyes nearly popped out of his head. “Boss? You’re alive.”
And then, to everyone’s surprise, he burst into tears.
Everyone turned to look at Jagger, not knowing what to say.
They thought, ‘No wonder these bandits looked so familiar. Turns out they are actually Jagger’s guys!’
Jagger glared at the bandits, looking pissed. “Damn it, what are you idiots doing here?”

Those men started sniffling and whining. “Ever since you left, the whole gang fell apart. Some other group took over, kicked us out, and we had nowhere to go.
“We ended up robbing people just to survive.”
Jagger’s eyes went wide. “What the hell? Someone actually dared to take over my turf. Let’s go meet them.”
Then he suddenly remembered something and quickly turned to Chloe with a grin.
He said, “What do you say? Can we bring these guys along? They’re just regular folks who got desperate. Nobody wants to turn to banditry unless they’re out of options.”
As he spoke, he raised his right hand. “I swear, they might not be saints, but they’re definitely not monsters who kill without a reason.”
Phantom grumbled, “I’m not a monster.”
Jagger froze for a moment, then broke into a huge grin. “Phantom, you actually answered me. I’m so happy. My wife finally talked to me.”
Chloe glanced over her shoulder and hurried everyone along. “Alright, let’s go. Everyone, just come with us.”
They were all men, and every one of them was an earth–powered human. This was a major asset for the base’s construction.
