“I was blinded by greed and ambition, wanting success overnight… I let you down.” My voice was muffled. I knew that even if he protected me now, a man of his principles would never let me work for him again. My parents might even get dragged into this. But right now, I couldn’t think about that.
“And?” Cameron’s voice was low as he set his glass down gently. The soft click made the atmosphere heavier.
“And?” I was at a loss. When it came to him, that was all I could confess.
After a moment of silence, I glanced at him. Cameron fiddled with the ring on his thumb before speaking again, “What you hid from me goes deeper than that.
“Aside from the fraud and the lies, you still aren’t planning to dissolve your bond, are you?”
“I…” I was speechless, staring at him in shock. His gaze was cool. It was clear he had looked into everything.
Cameron’s POV:
Hearing about the trouble with the collaboration took me a long time to wrap my head around. After the police investigation, I learned all about Aaliyah’s past. To think she had that kind of history-throwing her life away for a worthless man. No wonder her parents cut ties with her for years and refused to let her into the family business.
But after learning all this, I felt anger, frustration… and a pang of sympathy. I never thought a woman could be so blindly devoted to a man-being his secret mate for ten years and bearing him a pup. And even after his utter betrayal and the collapse of his entire pack, she still wanted to be with him.
I didn’t understand it, but I was deeply affected. Remembering what Sofia had said, I finally understood why she was so devastated by a failed bond. She had bet everything on it.
Aaliyah’s POV:
“I’m sorry, Mr. Parker. I lied to you. The reason I wanted to start over in Maritime City was all for
my mate.” I gritted my teeth and stopped hiding it. “I know my story is shameful. But I just wanted to be with the person I loved, to give our child a complete family. I gave up everything, so… I just couldn’t accept it.”
My eyes grew wet as I spoke. A mix of self-pity and bitterness washed over me, and I covered my face, crying. Landon, the Alpha who had nearly ruined my life, had still chosen Natalie in

“Resentment is a bottomless pit,” Cameron said, his tone sharper. “Your biggest mistake was loving the wrong person and stubbornly refusing to see it. Did you think nothing else mattered but love? What about your self-respect, your principles? Your parents, your family, your friends?”
His words cut deep. I stayed silent, pressing hard on my own thighs.
“Aaliyah, do you really believe that winning back a man who doesn’t love you, who only uses you, who has twisted you into someone you’re not… is the best choice for you? Is that your responsibility as a mother?” he asked, frowning.
I could accept failure, but I couldn’t stand being lectured like this. My parents had no right, and neither did Cameron. But his words did wake me up. As Nathan’s mother, I couldn’t just give up. Landon betrayed me, and I could never forgive that. If love couldn’t go on, then let hatred keep me moving forward.
My nails dug into my palms. Through my tears, I looked at Cameron again.
I said, “Mr. Parker, you’re right. I was a fool. I made too many mistakes, and I hate myself for it. But it’s too late for regrets now.”
Cameron’s POV:
I didn’t want to lecture, but seeing Aaliyah still stuck in this despair made me furious.
“It’s not too late.” Looking at her, I felt I’d been too harsh.
An Omega blinded by love could lose all sense. And after being with that despicable Alpha for so many years, her judgment was probably warped by his influence. Every villain has a sorrow. Wasn’t Aaliyah, whose life was nearly destroyed by that man, the one suffering the most?
I sighed, softening my voice, “If you’re willing, it’s never too late to make things right. You can always start over.”
“Mr. Parker…” She seized the moment and suddenly sank down before me.
Startled, I immediately reached to help her up, but she resisted, clutching the fabric of my
pants.
She said, “Mr. Parker, I was wrong. I truly want to turn my life around, to start fresh. I’ll do anything to make up for my mistakes, to repay your kindness with everything I have. But Natalie won’t let me go. Moon-Shadowed Pack and Silver-Maned Pack won’t let me go. Please, you have to help me. I can’t fall now. Nathan still needs me.”
