Ditched Cheating Alpha, I Led My Daughter to Life's Peak novel Chapter 116

Do I regret it? Of course not. But... does he? Afterall, after the deed was done, it's not like he exactly communicated with me. He all but dumped me in front of my house and left without a word. It was like the walk of shame, and now it's like the morning after-even though we only kissed!

I don't want to regret it, but if he does, then dammit, so do I. Who needs Aiden anyway? Not me.

"You're mine."

I stare at myself in the mirror. Horror crosses my eyes as my face burns, and I notice something on my neck. Oh please no. Please no. Please no.

Oh, thank god. It was just an impression from something I slept on. I'd kill him if he left a hickey on me.

"Why are you teasing someone you don't even want?"

My dad looks at me suspiciously from across the table as he butters his toast. "What's wrong?" He narrows his eyes at me. "Unless it's about that, in which case, don't tell me."

Mom glares at him. "Don't embarrass her, Hugh." She turns to me, sipping her herbal tea before speaking. "Are you alright? Your breathing is a little..." Her brow furrows.

I wave my hand. "I'm fine, Mom. Really."

"Your lungs and heart feel fine?" she asks. Now everyone's looking at me, even Michael who's paused his game of Morph. "Because it's not the end of the world if they don't. We'll just go back to the doctors. I'm sure it'll be fine."

"I'm fine," I say quickly. I look into her eyes. "I'd tell you if I wasn't."

She smiles. "Of course. I know you always mean the best, it's just..." She gives me a knowing look. Then looks away. "We'll talk about it later. I just remembered that something might've already happened this month."

I pale.

"What do you mean?" Dad asks.

Mom shakes her head, sipping her coffee. "We'll talk later, Mia."

"Ooooo," Megan, Charlie, and Michael say in unison.

I just sink into my seat.

"I won't let anyone take you from me."

"Alright, I've been patient enough." Michael says as we walk up to the car. "It's time to spill. I want to know everything."

I sigh. "I'm not going to tell you until I know it's safe to tell you."

She shrugs. "The alphas weren't playing when they said 24/7. We just had to take over watch after Ethel's shift a few hours ago."

"Yeah his two minute shift while the rest of us are busting our asses." Brittany clenches her fist.

I try not to be weirded out by the fact that the betas are watching my house. It's kind of lowkey creepy, but better that than being wolf food I suppose.

"Well, Ethel did just get back in town," Krys points out. "And Oni is way more nocturnal, so it's only fair."

"Oni?" Michael gives me another look.

I give him one back. "Don't ask me." I turn towards the girls. "Hey, guys, shouldn't you..." I shrug. "I don't know, not be saying all of this in front of my brother?"

They look at Michael like he just appeared. "Well... I just figured he already knew?" Krys asks.

I shake my head.

Brittany scratches the back of her neck. "Well. Whoops." She avoids eye contact. "Now he knows. Yay?"
