Chapter 173 Not Done With Ayla
When the thought hit him, Troy’s face darkened immediately.
If he started missing Ayla after the divorce, then yeah, he was downright pathetic.
And for things like her lemon tea or those lunches, he could buy something better with money.
So in his mind, Ayla had never mattered.
Troy knew something was off with him. His mood wasn’t right, and he wasn’t acting normal.
But that was because Ayla looked too eager to divorce him. In Troy’s eyes, even if they had to split, it should’ve been his decision. She had no right to decide first.
So he wouldn’t listen to anyone.
Max tried switching his drink for something lighter.
Troy slapped his hand away and kept drinking.
Max frowned. “Fine. Do whatever you want.”
Then he called Skyla and Rolf to come keep Troy company.
When Skyla arrived, she assumed Troy would be thrilled to finally shake Ayla off.
She didn’t expect him to be drowning himself in alcohol.
Her expression shifted.
Rolf was also surprised. He asked directly, “Are you upset?”

Troy glanced at them. He didn’t want to explain, but he noticed Skyla’s expression and paused. “Of course I’m happy.”
Rolf snorted. “You don’t look happy.”
Skyla asked, “Did Ayla do something to upset you?”
Troy set down his glass. Instead of answering, he looked at both of them and said in a low voice, “I’m taking Ayla to my grandpa’s birthday party. Keep the divorce a secret for now.”
Rolf frowned. “You’re going to lie to your grandfather?”
Skyla froze, confused.
What did he mean by this?
Hadn’t he wanted to leave Ayla for a long time?
Troy said, “After his birthday, I’ll tell him about the divorce.”
Many important people would show up at the party. Trey wanted everyone to know Ayla was his woman.
Even if Draven tried to take her, Troy wanted him to look shameless to the public.

Chapter 173 Not Done With Ayla
So he had to bring Ayla to see his grandfather.
But the real reason was simple: Troy didn’t want Draven to have an easy time.
Skyla asked, “Will Ayla even agree to go with you?”

Yesterday, when she went house–hunting with Troy, she thought she saw something strange in Ayla’s eyes, like Ayla still cared a little.
Skyla almost believed Ayla didn’t want the divorce. But Juliet’s Instagram confirmed it; they had gotten their divorce certificate.
They were completely done.
No ties left at all.
Skyla had always looked down on Ayla, but Ayla’s determination this time surprised her.
Especially since Kaleb’s gaming company database crashed. If Skyla were in Ayla’s shoes, she would’ve begged Troy for help.
Yet Ayla still went through with the divorce.
Which only meant Ayla didn’t care about her brother.
No one could tell what Ayla was really thinking, not even Skyla. Would Ayla still cooperate with Troy afterward?
Probably not.
Rolf never liked Ayla. He scoffed. “Of course she’ll cooperate. You keep giving her chances to cling to you.”
Troy looked at Skyla without explaining anything. “Even if she doesn’t want to, she still has to.”
Skyla didn’t respond.
Whatever Ayla decided didn’t matter much anymore.
They were already divorced.
And Ayla had stopped relying on Troy long ago, which meant Kaleb’s company was doomed.
Kaleb was stubborn. The next time he saw her or Zane,e’d probably walk the other way.
Ayla had lost everything in this round.
And that was exactly the outcome Skyla wanted.
Besides, everyone now believed she was Troy’s wife. Even if Ayla showed up somewhere, who would recognize her?
Max had stopped joining their conversations about Ayla long ago. “I have a friend here,” he said. “I’m going to say hi.”
Skyla asked, “Who? Bring him over.”

Max smiled. “He hasn’t met any of you. He won’t come in. I’ll be right back.”
But Max had only one goal–find Ayla.
He reached their private room and knocked.

James opened the door. “Max, why are you taking forever? If you didn’t want to come, just say so. I could’ve invited someone else.”
Max showed up late because he was drinking with Troy.
Now he walked in with a cold, annoyed expression.
There were only four people inside: Ayla, James, and two male escorts.
Every part of that picture irritated him.
Still, Max flashed a perfect smile. “Ayla, fresh off a divorce and already in such a great mood?”
Ayla had witnessed how quickly Max could switch faces–one for her, another for James. She wasn’t impressed.
“Not too bad,” she said calmly. “You all talk. I’ll do my thing.”
Halle had stepped out to take a work call.
Ayla didn’t feel like entertaining Max anyway.
And with James here, she didn’t need to step in.
Max shot a sharp glance at Casey.
That fool was actually flirting with Ayla. If Max could dig his eyes out, he would.
The next second, James casually rested a hand on Max’s shoulder.
Max froze, then shoved it off. “Don’t touch me.”
James looked stunned. “What’s your problem?”
“I never liked you,” Max snapped.
