Chapter 213 Coincidence

Emmett held back his excitement and pretended he didn’t care. Then he said right away, “Storm Group just invested 300 million dollars in us.”
Kaleb grabbed the contract and flipped through it. His face got darker with every page. “Emmett, you signed this without talking to me?”
Emmett let out a long sigh of relief. Good thing he decided on his own. Otherwise, everything would have fallen apart again.
“As for Max, Ayla begged me for help. I won’t betray her, so I dropped it. But Storm Group is the company Ayla works for. And you know Storm Group’s reputation.” Emmett snorted. “I’d have to be crazy to turn this down!”
Kaleb glared at him hard.
Emmett finally felt like he had won one round, and it made him feel better. “Anyway, the deal is signed. Just accept the money. We’re having dinner this Friday night with Herman, Storm Group’s vice president. It’s normal business stuff. And you’re coming with me.”
Emmett smiled again, looking excited. “I also invited Ayla. We’ll call it a small gathering of our shareholders!”
Ayla was shocked when Emmett called her. She always thought Kaleb wouldn’t accept Draven’s investment so easily, but everything went surprisingly smoothly.
She had teased Draven before, saying he only talked big. She didn’t think he would actually help.
300 million dollars was a huge amount, but to Storm Group, it wasn’t much. Still, this was a big favor. Draven had gone out of his way just for her. Other than saying he was simply too nice, Ayla couldn’t explain it.
Thankfully, Herman was the one handling the meeting. If Draven had flown over himself just for this, Ayla would have felt terrible. He was already so busy. Now she was taking his money and maybe even wasting his time. That would have been too much.
On Friday, Ayla drove out to pick up Halle.
Herman was a major executive at Storm Group, someone many people tried hard to impress. So Ayla brought Halle along.
As soon as Halle got in the car, she kissed Ayla’s cheek. “You’re the one I can always count on.”

Ayla laughed. “I count on you, too. I need you to make money so I can get my dividends.”
Halle’s add–on contract listed Ayla as contributing technology shares, so Ayla was also one of ZeitTech’s shareholders.
Emmett had booked a very fancy restaurant. After Ayla entered the destination into the GPS, they chatted while she drove.
Halle said, “Since you invited me out today, you’re coming with me to an event later.”
Ayla asked, “Who’s hosting it?”
Halle grinned. “Remember the charity gala at the House of Myur? I sat next to Draven that night. After that, tons of people want to meet me. Even Conrad started chasing after me.”
Ayla remembered Conrad. “I can go with you.”
If Ayla weren’t driving, Halle would have hugged her arm. “Ayla, you’re my lucky star. I built my company using your LugiX tech and grew it bigger. Now I’m using your connections to meet top people. Before, my world was too small, so I didn’t get why you wouldn’t quit your job. But thanks to you being a little assistant in Storm Group, I’ve met so many important people.”
Will could help, too, but Halle would have to spend a lot more effort on him.
Asking Ayla was just one sentence, and Ayla always kept Halle in mind anyway. So it meant
more.
Ayla never thought of it that way. “You’re right. It all worked out by accident. Maybe everything happened the best way it could.”
They soon reached the restaurant.
Ayla and Halle walked into the elevator together. Just before the doors closed, a pale, long- fingered hand reached in.
Ayla pressed the open button.
A tall man stepped inside, maybe around six–foot–one.
Ayla didn’t try to stare at his face, but she still couldn’t help noticing he was very handsome.
The man looked at her, too. It was the kind of look you give a stranger. Then his Halle and stayed there.

He didn’t press any buttons, so he was heading to the same restaurant as them. It really was a
coincidence.
“It really is you. You look even better now,” Halle said, already chatting like old friends. “I heard you were studying overseas these past few years?”
Howard had a relaxed, easy aura. When he smiled, it made his handsome face even better. “I just got back.”
Halle said, “I’ve got plans tonight. Let me treat you to dinner another day.”
Howard’s lips curved. His voice was gentle. “A guy should be the one asking first. I’ll take you out. My treat.”
Halle grinned. “Sure. Deal.”
Right after they finished talking, the elevator arrived.
As they walked out, Howard glanced at Ayla. Halle finally remembered to introduce them. “This is Ayla Keaton, my best friend.”
Howard said, “Don’t tell me you two are dating?”
People who studied abroad were very open, so Halle just grabbed Ayla’s arm. “Yeah. I like her a lot.”
Howard could tell she was joking. “Nice to meet you, Ayla. I’m Howard Saffron. I went to school with Halle.”
Ayla said, “Nice to meet you.”
Halle added, “We were in the same year, but he studied finance. I only met him during a mixer.”
