Chapter 212 An Investment with Strings.
“Do you have time for a meal?”
Emmett froze for a moment.
Then what had been said registered.
Emmett was shocked.

He gripped his phone tightly, held it in front of his face to check it several times, then put it back to his ear. He tried hard to control his emotions so he wouldn’t seem like some hick. “Hello, Mr. Howell. I have time.”
Herman said, “Great. At 2 p.m., I’ll come to your company.”
“M–Mr. Howell, just name a location. I’ll come meet you.”
Herman chuckled briefly. “Alright.”
After coordinating the time and place, Emmett’s mind went blank. He stood there in a daze for
a moment before gradually processing what had happened.
His first thought was that it must be a scam.
Then he quickly looked up the business club where they’d meet. Emmett knew of this members–only, appointment–based establishment.
Emmett’s heart started racing. He wanted to rush into Kaleb’s office right away and ask what was going on.
He’d just been asked to investigate Storm Group, and now he’d received a call from the Vice President, Herman, asking to meet. There had to be a connection.
But remembering the incident with Max, Emmett held back.
He’d go alone.
At 2 p.m., Emmett had calmed down from his initial excitement and started doubting whether it was real, right up until he arrived at the private room on time.
He’d prepared himself for disappointment.
But when he opened the door, Herman had arrived even earlier than him.

The business club’s atmosphere was elegant. Herman wore a perfectly pressed black suit, his shirt buttoned to the collar. Silver–rimmed glasses sat on his prominent nose. He looked extremely polished.
But his aura wasn’t intimidating. Instead, he was refined and elegant, with a faint smile at the corners of his mouth, seeming very approachable.
This was Emmett’s first impression of the famous Vice President of Storm Group.
Emmett’s second impression was the gap between them.
Herman seemed approachable, but there was an invisible barrier between them.
This barrier was probably the gap in status and position, coupled with the knowledge that Herman controlled a massive corporation with the impressive experience that came with it. It made Emmett feel like nothing more than a green kid by comparison.
He was also won over by Herman’s perfect demeanor.
Emmett was usually pretty confident and good at socializing, but right now his body had gone stiff. He suspected he’d walked from the door to Herman like a robot.
Herman’s assistant, Nelson, stood up. Anyone who worked alongside Herman was elite with deep experience.
Emmett felt even less confident.
Nelson offered his hand and introduced himself. “Hello, I’m Nelson Poe, Mr. Howell’s assistant.”
Emmett snapped out of it and shook with both hands. “Hello, hello. I’m Emmett, a partner at Dimensia Labs.”
Herman stood up and offered his hand as well.
Emmett grasped it with both hands, moving even faster. “Hello, Mr. Howell.”
Herman said, “No need to be nervous.”
As a 30–year–old veteran, Herman still quite liked green youngsters,
However, Herman was a bit disappointed. He’d thought he’d get to meet Ayla’s brother, Kaleb.
Hearing this, Emmett relaxed a bit, though he still didn’t dare to let his guard down completely.
Nelson handed Emmett the information file they’d compiled.

Emmett looked and saw it was an extremely detailed due diligence report on their company.
What’s this for?
Emmett looked up, confused.
Herman said, “I’m very optimistic about your game project. I’m planning to invest. How much money do you need?”
Emmett was speechless.
How much do you need? Is that even a normal thing to ask?
Emmett had been desperate for money before. How did so many people suddenly want to throw money at them? And each investor was more powerful than the last. He never would have dreamed that Storm Group would actually be willing to invest in them.
But Emmett remained pretty calm. Storm Group only dealt with major projects. How could they possibly notice an unknown startup game company?
Emmett looked at him and swallowed. “Mr. Howell, are you serious?”
Herman replied, “Of course.”
Emmett didn’t understand. “But why?”
Herman thought back to when Draven called him into the office today. His opening line had been, “You know everything now, don’t you?”
It came out of nowhere, but smart people didn’t need much explanation. Herman had said yes.
Draven asked again, “When?”
Herman said, “I’d teased you about Ayla before, but I wasn’t sure. Two weeks ago when we played tennis, after Troy took Ayla away and I played with you afterward, you hit pretty hard. That’s when I more or less figured it out.”
After that, Draven had mentioned Kaleb’s game company. He wanted to win over his future brother–in–law.
That was Herman’s real purpose for being here,
Emmett didn’t mind having more money. He’d agonized for a long time over turning down Max, but there was no reason not to take Storm Group’s investment.

He asked for 300 million, 100 million less than what Ayla had invested, to keep Ayla firmly in the majority shareholder position.
Then he signed the contract.
Kaleb also needed to sign. He had quite a few documents to sign on any given day, so Emmett slipped in the investment contract and had Kaleb sign and stamp it.
“Why do I need stamp it too?” Kaleb had been rushed through it by Emmett.
