Finished:
He totally got why Troy made that choice. Skyla’s great in ways you could not just talk about.
But if he were Troy, even with Martin breathing down his neck, he would never agree to marry Ayla. He would just wait for Skyla to finish her PhD and come home.
Troy had never said why he planned to marry Ayla, and Rolf had no idea what he was thinking.
Either way, if it were him, he would never end up stuck being pestered by Ayla.
Before Ayla got in the car, she honestly hadn’t expected Draven to really be waiting–he just didn’t seem like someone with that kind of patience.
It was not until the car was headed toward the restaurant that it hit her: the head of Storm Group actually waited for a junior secretary on his first day back. It made her a little uneasy.
And no one said a word about her holding them up.
It was not that Ayla felt Draven deserved her eternal gratitude for waiting a bit. If she were traveling with someone who got hurt, she would stop too.
She was just comparing.
No matter what happened, Troy never waited for her. Usually, she would arrive early and wait for him to wander in late, and a lot of times, he did not show up at all, leaving her sitting there
alone.
Ayla had a whole mess of thoughts in her head, but she tossed them aside the moment she stepped out of the car.
Will asked the driver to join them for lunch, but after having some fast food, the driver refused. Truth was, he did not dare sit at the same table as Draven. And this place was amazing; it usually took a month to get a reservation, so getting to eat here was rare.
Ayla really was hungry, so she did not bother pretending otherwise.
Once the food was served, Draven picked up his fork. Only then did Ayla and Will start eating.
They had eaten together at the Winston Estate the night before. Draven’s table manners were as elegant as always; even the servers‘ sneaking glances could not help it.
Could you blame them? He was not just handsome; he had that sharp, polished presence you would expect from someone on a high–fashion cover. However, models did not have that

commanding, intimidating aura he had. Seeing him in person only made people keep their distance; no one would ever get the urge to poke his abs.
Will took the initiative to explain to Ayla, “I studied abroad, and after graduating, I started working for him. I really didn’t know who you were that day.”
Ayla said, “Well, you do now. But yeah, that was a weird coincidence.”
Will added, “I’ve seen your résumé. With your qualifications, why didn’t you join the tech department?”
Ayla answered honestly, “The secretary department is a bit more relaxed.”
Will knew Ayla was married, and she had a household to look after, so her time was obviously more limited.
However, he still did not expect someone so young, pretty, and poised to already be married.
Kind of a shame, really, though he could not even explain why he felt that way.
“Then let’s grab Halle too and all hang out sometime.”
Ayla glanced at him.
Was he just being polite, or using the polite invite to see someone he actually wanted to see?
Probably, she was overthinking it. Halle had a fiancé; nothing to hide. So, she had definitely mentioned that to Will already.
Ayla nodded. “Sure.”
After lunch, Draven assigned her a task: pick up a set of cups he had bought from a tableware shop and deliver them to his home. The door code was already in her messages.
The three of them exchanged personal contacts during lunch, pushed along by Will, of course. Ayla would never dare ask Draven for his private contact.
The shop carried a well–known foreign brand. The two cups cost nearly a hundred thousand in total. Even though the staff had wrapped them in layers of foam, Ayla still held the bag like it might explode.
Just as she turned around, Bria and a few friends were coming straight toward her.
Ayla thought, What a small world.
“Bria, isn’t that the girl you said the Winstons raised like a dog? She’s this pretty, and they still treat her like that?” Bria’s friend, Renee Pimento, whispered into Bria’s ear. She had been at the

Seeing Ayla ignore her, Bria deliberately raised her voice. “She’s only got a decent face. Other than that, she’s nothing.”
Ayla clearly heard it, but she did not even blink, just walked

past the group and out of sight.
Wasn’t her brother supposed to teach this woman a lesson? So how could she straight–up ignore her? Ayla was getting more arrogant by the day. Did Ayla really not understand her place?
And Bria had never met a woman this clueless. If Ayla wanted to win her brother back, shouldn’t she be sucking up to his sister? Instead, she had the nerve to throw an attitude.
Truly unbelievable.
Did Ayla really think this was going to spark some rebellious spark in her and her brother, and make them think better of her?
Renee was surprised. That girl had some backbone for daring to give Bria attitude.
So, she could not help asking, “Who even is she?”
Troy’s marriage was kept secret, and since Bria did not like her sister–in–law, she never mentioned her to anyone.
And really, it was because she did not care enough. Ayla simply was not worth talking about, and she could not even be shown off.
