Chapter 362 Waiting Isn’t His Choice
From start to finish, the only person she wanted one was Eric, that jerk.

Kayla didn’t even know Carmen at all. Still, judging by Carmen’s expression, it looked like life hadn’t been kind to her these past years. And oddly enough, part of that seemed tied to Kayla. Otherwise, why would Carmen keep sneaking looks at her with such unfriendly eyes?
But that didn’t make sense. So many years had passed. Carmen even had two children now. How could she still not be over it?
Eric had been stunning when he was young, that much was true, but he was old now, and there’s so much more to live. A woman at her age should be relaxed and free. With money to spend and time to spare, Carmen could enjoy herself just fine-go shopping, travel, keep some young man and have a little fun, and keep herself happy. Her life could be rich and full.
But Carmen didn’t look like a well-kept socialite at all. Her brows were always drawn tight. Her eyes were dark and heavy, as if she carried too many worrics.
Why live like that? So bitter, so tense?
But Kayla didn’t think much of it. She quickly pushed it all out of her mind and focused on the food in front of her, fully enjoying the meal without a single stray thought.
Whenever she tasted something especially good she shared it with Martin.
After the lively birthday party ended, Eric arranged activities for the guests to relax around the resort.
Kayla, however, was ready to leave. Draven suddenly said, “You go ahead.”
“You’re not leaving?” she asked.
“Not yet.”
“Suit yourself.” Kayla had actually gotten along fairly well with Draven today. But she knew herself well. That harmony only lasted a short while. Stay together too long, and she would start finding him annoying.
Before leaving, she still tossed him a complimen. “Not bad. You gave your mom plenty of respect today. I told you what to do, and you listened. You didn’t argue with me. Keep it up.”
Draven knew her too well. He knew that her attention span for him lasted only a few minutes. The only reason she’d stayed this long was because it was Martin’s birthday. So, he replied with a flat face, “Not happening.”

Kayla had no words.
She really shouldn’t have asked. She left in a bad mood, fully irritated.

From a distance, Bria saw the whole exchange. She was afraid of Draven, but Kayla looked even scarier. It would be better if they left. Her own stiffness tonight had a lot to do with Draven being there.
Just as Bria relaxed, Draven suddenly turned around and looked straight at her.
Bria jumped in fright and bolted away.
At 5:30 in the evening, the guests who had stayed for dinner began to leave one by one.
The family escorted Martin back to the estate together.
Ayla followed close behind in her car.
Troy kept calling her. After several calls, Ayla finally answered.
Troy’s voice was tight with barely held-back anger. “Are you coming or not?”
“Soon,” Ayla said, eyes on the road. “Wait for me.
His tone softened a little. “Where are you now?”
“Wait for me at the estate,” Ayla replied calmly. “won’t keep you waiting long.”
Since everyone was already there, Ayla would definitely show up. She was worried no one was there.
She hadn’t wasted the afternoon either. She had gone to the office and spoken with her vice president about actors and celebrities the company planned to sign. Those celebrities were their clients.
“Won’t keep me waiting?” Troy snapped. “I’ve been waiting all day. Are you doing this on purpose?”
She heard the anger in his voice, but she didn’t care. Ayla was no longer the woman who would fight him, argue back, or turn everything into a loud mess.
She only replied lightly, “No.”
Her tone was relaxed.

That was enough to make Troy furious. He wanted to argue, but he couldn’t. Those words. only made his anger burn hotter.
Ayla had really changed.
Troy felt completely stifled. “Fine. Then I’ll wait!
Ayla glanced at the ended call and didn’t care.
Her thoughts drifted to the Winstons.
Because the marriage had been kept private, and because things with Troy were bad, she rarely spent time with his family.
The ones she dealt with most were Eric, Carmen, and Bria.
Martin had other children, but she barely saw them once a year.
Troy had become CEO for a simple reason. Eric wasn’t very driven. He couldn’t handle the pressure of running such a large empire, and his ability was average.
The others in Troy’s generation couldn’t compare to him either. Troy was the best of them all.
When no one else measured up, of course he felt proud.
And because of that pride, he couldn’t stand losing face.
Maybe Troy didn’t bring up divorce because he didn’t want to lose her as his reliable maid. That might explain why he had even tried to win her back.
Or maybe he just felt divorce was embarrassing.
Either way, this wasn’t up to Troy.
In the past, Ayla always gave in to him. Now, it was his turn to give in to her.
No, he would never truly submit.
He would have no choice but to accept it.
And being forced to accept something never felt good.
Ayla could imagine how angry Troy was, but it had nothing to do with her anymore.

About ten minutes later, her car drove into the estate.
As soon as Ayla stepped out, she saw a line of luxury cars.
Good. Everyone is here.

Chapter 363 Silent Protest
There was no car from Draven, because he planned to ride back with Ayla later.
He could have left earlier, but he stayed to wait for her.
With Draven nearby, Ayla felt calm for no clear reason.

After meeting Kayla earlier, she knew Draven had been right. He was steady. He was reliable,
Having him nearby gave her more confidence.
Ayla closed the car door.
Coincidentally, Troy walked out of the main house. She raised an eyebrow and looked his
way.
Troy was wearing a modern suit with a twist today. It softened the cold edge he usually carried.
The suit matched the dress he had bought for her perfectly.
But Ayla was still dressed in a clean, sharp white suit. It was simple and neat, which didn’t match him at all.
She stayed where she was and didn’t move.
When Troy saw Ayla, he finally relaxed. She really had come. That alone eased him.
But the way she was dressed made him frown.
She looked like she was about to walk into an international meeting. In front of the elders, her outfit felt too bold, too strong. She used to dress gently and softly when meeting family.
More importantly, she wasn’t wearing the gown he bought.
His mood dropped at once.
Troy walked down the steps in a few quick strides. His face was cold as he stopped in front of her. He forced down his anger over her late arrival and looked down at her, his voice sharp. “Why aren’t you wearing the gown I got you?”
Ayla met his eyes calmly. “Because I don’t like it.
Troy snapped back, “Does liking it even matter? You dress for the occasion. Don’t you understand that?”
