Chapter 380 A Familiar Morning
Chapter 380 A Familiar Morning
That gorgeous face made everything outside the window fade away.
Ayla blinked. “Where did you sleep last night?”
Only her side of the bed was messy.

“On the couch,” Draven said.
“I figured.”
“Did you sleep well?” he asked.
Ayla watched his lips move as he spoke. The spot on her forehead where he had kissed her felt a little itchy.
So, it wasn’t a dream.
“Pretty well. How about you?”
“Do you want the honest answer?”
Ayla smiled. “I get it. Thank you for being so considerate, Mr. Storm.” She paused, then asked. “Have you been waiting long?”
“Almost an hour.”
“Why didn’t you go downstairs?”
Draven said, “Waking up in a place that feels unfamiliar, I’d rather see someone I know than an empty room.”
Ayla nodded. “Yeah. Familiar things make people feel safe.” She yawned. “Wait for me a bit longer. I’ll go get ready.”
“Okay.” Draven watched her nod and walk away. He had barely slept a wink last night.
Kayla had asked the staff to bring over clothes in the old-money style that worked for any age. Ayla picked a white suit. After washing up, she changed in the bathroom.
She didn’t forget to put on clean underwear. As for what she had worn last night, throwing it away felt wasteful, so she quickly washed it and ung it up to dry.
Draven rarely stayed here. When the staff noticed later, they could decide whether to keep it or toss it. At least it wouldn’t be left dirty for anyone to see.

Kayla also prepared makeup for her. Ayla only used skincare and skipped makeup. The white suit made her skin look clear and rosy. A good night’s sleep really did wonders.
When she was done, Ayla went to the living area
Draven was waiting on the couch. He turned to look at her, then stood up.
While Ayla was getting ready, Draven had already asked Elizabeth to prepare breakfast. The timing was perfect.
“Let’s go,” he said.
Ayla felt refreshed and in a good mood. She nodded. “Alright.”
Kayla had said the three of them would have breakfast together, and sure enough, she was already waiting when the young couple came downstairs.
She knew they had spent a very sweet night together, but teasing was not something you did in front of a girl. Her expression stayed natural and warm as she waved them over. “Come on. Let’s eat breakfast together.”
The table was covered with enough food for eight people.
Ayla had already gotten used to being around Kayla. She was polite and respectful, but not stiff or nervous.
Kayla couldn’t help thinking that this girl had impressive self-control. There wasn’t even a hint of shyness. No wonder Draven, that clueless boy, was completely wrapped around her finger.
Because of what Ayla had said the night before, Draven found himself thinking about his relationship with Kayla..
As a mother, Kayla had hurt him deeply in the past. He remembered every bit of it.
Yet when she showed him even a little kindness, he still responded. He wasn’t as cold-hearted as he liked to believe, Otherwise, they wouldn’t be sitting here now, sharing breakfast at the
same table.
Kayla wanted to case the tension between mother and son. And since she hadn’t truly accepted Ayla yet, her kindness toward Ayla was clearly based on one thing: Draven’s feelings
for her.
Ayla saw all of this very clearly.

Strangely, that realization made Draven feel a quiet sense of relief.

When Kayla didn’t think much of Ayla, she didn’t seem to care much about Kayla either.
Draven suddenly wanted to praise Ayla.
When it came to dealing with Kayla, Ayla handled things far better than he ever could.
Normally, Kayla and Draven could never have such a pleasant breakfast together. Either no one spoke, or the air would freeze. But with Ayla there, the meal felt light and relaxed.
Kayla was in a good mood and kept encouraging Ayla to eat more. In that way, she was no different from any other elder.
Ayla ate what she wanted. If she didn’t want something, she politely declined.
Kayla didn’t force her.
After breakfast, it was time to say goodbye.
Kayla was taking her private jet this time. She refused their offer to walk her to the airstrip and urged them to go on with their day.
So Draven and Ayla left.
Draven drove Ayla’s car. Just as they reached the gate, Kayla called out from behind them.
“Don’t forget the gold bars!”
Since it would only take a moment, Draven stopped the car in the middle of the road and got out to grab them.
At that moment, another car approached.
Two short honks sounded.
Ayla got out to move the car.
“Ayla?” a voice suddenly called. She turned around and saw a head sticking out of a black Mercedes-Benz G-Class SUV behind her. It was Kaleb.
“What are you doing here?” Kaleb asked in surprise.
Ayla was just as startled. “You live here?”
“I live with Emmett. This is his place.” Kaleb frowned. “Why are you here?”

Kaleb looked at the two of them-at their matching black-and-white outfits that looked just like couple clothes and at the fact that they were leaving a villa together early in the morning. His face darkened instantly.
The last time Kaleb had seen them was at Ayla’s place. Draven had openly shown up at his sister’s home to eat, but Kaleb had eyes. Back then, there was clearly nothing between them.
