Chapter 381 Choose Now
Chapter 381 Choose Now
But now, he wasn’t sure anymore.
Kaleb jumped out of the car at once and stormed over. He grabbed Ayla by the wrist. When he did, he saw the ring on her left ring finger. Then, without surprise, he noticed the same ring on Draven’s hand.
Kaleb’s head buzzed. The feeling of being betrayed hit him again. He didn’t even bother to yell. He just stared at Ayla and said through clenched teeth, “Choose. Are you going with him, or are you coming with me?”
He looked like a young wolf-sharp, angry, and desperate. He was furious.
Draven glanced over, but Kaleb snapped at him right away. “Shut up!”
Draven remained silent.
When young men lose their temper, they really do look like wolves.
“I’m talking to my sister. What gives you the right to speak here?” Kaleb didn’t care who Draven was anymore. In his eyes, Draven was just a shady guy with bad intentions. A man who coveted his sister. Who knew if he was serious or just having fun and planning to walk away later? Men were all the same anyway. Kaleb knew that too well.
What made Kaleb even angrier was that Ayla hadn’t told him anything. Was she guarding against him like she did with Zane?
“Ayla, decide now!” His eyes said it all. If she chose Draven, he looked ready to cut her off for
years.
Ayla saw how upset he was. He was clearly hurting. As his sister, she couldn’t ignore that. She cared about him too much. So she answered without hesitation. “Okay. I’ll go with you. I’ll explain everything.”
Hearing that, the tension in Kaleb’s face finally eased. Just a little. He was still furious, though. Angry in a way he couldn’t even put into words.
In his mind, this was all Draven’s fault. Kaleb shot Draven another fierce glare, like a wolf protecting his territory. “Don’t get smug.”
Draven was puzzled.
Ayla knew Draven wouldn’t argue with an angry young man. She grabbed Kaleb and pushed him toward the car. Then she turned back and said to Draven, “I’ll head out first.”

“Alright,” Draven replied.

Kaleb had just yelled at him, but Draven didn’t take it personally. He stayed calm and patient. Ayla thought that if Draven did argue back, he wouldn’t be Draven at all.
But in Kaleb’s eyes, Draven’s calm manners were fake from top to bottom. A perfect act. Always playing the good guy in front of his sister. It made Kaleb sick.
“Move your car!” Kaleb shouted again after getting inside, leaning out the window.
Draven had no words.
Ayla gave Draven an apologetic look through the window. Then she turned and smacked Kaleb lightly on the head. “That’s my car,” she said.
“You’ve never let me drive it,” Kaleb snapped. “But you let him drive you around? Why? Did you ever think about me?” The more he thought about it, the angrier he got. It felt like Draven mattered more to her than he did.
Now, it was Ayla turn to be speechless.
She suppressed her anger and smiled. “What are you even thinking? A free driver isn’t a bad deal, is it?”
Kaleb froze for a second. Then he realized Ayla was bluffing him. His face darkened even more. “Stop trying to fool me,” he snapped. “What’s with the ring on your finger? Is this his place? You came out with him first thing in the morning, dressed like that. It’s hurt my eyes! Wearing monotone-colored attire, what are you two? Dairy cattle or something?”
“I told you I’ll explain. Stop asking so many questions!” Ayla shot back. “And stop calling me milk cattle!”
Draven had already driven off. He clearly didn’t feel like dealing with Kaleb. Ayla waved her hand and urged him on. “Come on, let’s go to my office. You’ve never been there anyway. I’ll show you around.”
Kaleb clenched his teeth. “Fine. But you have to explain everything later. If not, I’m not letting this go.”
“Are you done?” Ayla scoffed. “What are you going to do? Went on strike?” She smacked the back of his head lightly. “Move it!”
Ayla had always thought Kaleb would find out one day by dropping by her place unannounced. She never expected to run into him right at Kayla’s door. What Kaleb had just said, Kayla definitely heard it. This was her house, after all. Ayla couldn’t explain anything on the spot. They had to leave first.

As for whether Kayla would feel suspicious, that was Draven’s problem.
So far, though, Kayla hadn’t noticed anything strange.

Even Ayla was surprised. She hadn’t expected it to work this well. She had actually fooled Kayla’s sharp eyes without much effort.
Of course, living together was a strong excuse. But face-to-face interaction was another test. The test had gone well, so Ayla wasn’t about to quit halfway.
Besides, she only had to keep up the act when Kayla was around. Once Kayla left, she and Draven would go back to being normal roommates.
Ayla had been thinking about how to explain things to Kaleb. Her original plan was to keep it from him for now. Telling Halle was fine.
What she didn’t expect was how strongly Kaleb disliked Draven. If Kaleb ever found out they were only pretending to be a couple, he would probably storm into her place and throw all of Draven’s things out without a second thought.
