Thinking about it now, Ayla felt angry enough to want to smack Kaleb. But more than that, she wanted to know why he was so anxious.

Centurion Entertainment.

Ayla took Kaleb straight to the CEO’s office.

As they passed by, Iris called out to Ayla before she noticed Kaleb. She guessed he might be the artist the boss was about to sign. He had the looks for it, but his expression was dark and sharp, not friendly at all.

Ayla asked her secretary to bring in two cups of coffee.

Then she walked into the office.

She set her bag on the desk and sat on the couch by the window. She didn’t need to say a word. Kaleb sat down across from her right away

He had been holding it in the whole drive over. His eyes were fierce. “Well? Say it.”

“Wait for the coffee.”

“You-”

“Shut up,” Ayla said calmly. “Or do you want to go look around the office first?”

If it weren’t for what happened today, Kaleb would have explored every corner of her new company. That was just how he was. But now, he had no mood for it at all.

Ayla spoke first, her tone softer. “You’ve got a bad temper. You talk rough. You’re always on edge,” she said. “But you’re my brother. You’re clearly upset, so of course I want to know why. Tell me this-why do you hate Draven so much He’s been good to you. He’s never done anything to hurt you.”

Kaleb was annoying, sure, but Ayla could tell there was anxiety behind his anger.

Things weren’t like before, when Kaleb refused talk to her at all. Now they could finally communicate. She couldn’t just blow up every time he lost his temper.

More than anything, he was her younger brother. She cared about him, and she knew how to calm him down. You just had to pet the fur the right way.

Kaleb sneered. “Weren’t you going to explain? Why are you questioning me instead?”

“I need to know what you’re thinking first,” Ayla said. “Otherwise, if I say something you don’t like, won’t you just explode again?”

Kaleb snorted.

Ayla smiled. “You’re my brother. I care about you. I don’t want you getting angry because of me. And I don’t want you this angry while I have no idea why. Your thoughts matter to me, Kaleb. I really want to know what’s going on in your head.”

This time, Kaleb went quiet.

Right then, Iris came in with the coffee and left.

Ayla slid one cup toward Kaleb. “Go on. Talk.”

Kaleb thought of Ayla standing next to Draven. That strange, undeniable chemistry between them. The matching rings on their fingers. And even now, Ayla still hadn’t said they were just friends. Before, she would have rushed to clear up any misunderstanding right away.

So really, Kaleb already knew the answer. They were together. He was just furious. So furious that he stubbornly wanted to hear Ayla admit it herself. Even though, deep down, he knew it wouldn’t change anything at all.

“Damn it!” Kaleb cursed.

“How is Draven making his moves this fast?”

This time, Ayla froze. “What do you mean?”

Kaleb clenched his teeth and looked at her. “Of course he didn’t tell you. I knew it. Draven is way more calculating than he looks.”

“What did he say to you in private?” Ayla asked.

Kaleb took a breath. “Fine, I won’t hide it from you. The first time I ever met Draven, he told me straight up that he wanted to marry you. That was about a month ago. He even said it with total confidence. He said he was the best option. Said he’d work to earn my approval. The moment we met, his real intentions were already showing.”

“Ayla, he’s had his eyes on you from the start. Otherwise, why would he invest in me? Do you really think it was just because my game is good Sure, my game is good-but 300 million dollars? Why him? And he didn’t even come to me first. He went to Emmett. He was afraid I’d say no. Isn’t that obvious enough?”

The more Kaleb talked, the angrier he got. “He even bought a place next to yours. Don’t tell

me that’s a coincidence. I bet it’s so he can drop by anytime, eat at your place, run into you more, and slowly win you over.

“Ayla, it’s only been one month. How did you fall for him so fast? How did you walk right into his trap? You’re already with him, and you didn’t even tell me. What, do you think he’s not worth introducing? Or are you guarding against me like I’m some outsider?”

After Ayla noticed the open concern in Draven’s eyes, she had already started wondering if he felt more than friendship toward her.

But Draven was always cold. He had never dated anyone before. She worried she was just overthinking it.

Then last night happened. The way he quietly touched her face. The gentle kiss on her forehead. And even though she pretended to be asleep, she could feel that intense, almost dangerous focus on her-like being watched by beast. That was when she was almost sure. Draven really did like her.

What Ayla never expected was this-Back when she had just gotten divorced, the very first time Draven met Kaleb, he had already said it out loud. He wanted to be her husband.
