Max realized that Ayla was about to hang up. His heart tightened. “Wait.”

There was silence on the other end. He hurriedly said “I heard Troy say you’re with Draven

now.”

Ayla said, “I’m not obligated to answer you, but I’m glad Troy knows.”

Max tightened his grip on the phone. “Do you really like Draven?”

Ayla paused for a second before asking, “Mr. Bennett, what exactly are you trying to say to me? We’re not close enough to be talking about this, are we?”
