When Draven was five years old, he was small and thin. Standing next to Troy, no one would think he was the older brother. At that time, Draven couldn’t beat Troy at all. Once, Troy tied his wrists with ropes and hung him in the woods for a full hour. His wrists were it until they bled, leaving those very faint scars.
After the adults found out, Eric beat Troy so badly that he couldn’t get out of bed. He stayed in the hospital for more than a month and even had a dangerously high fever that nearly killed him.
Draven’s wrists were wrapped in white gauze when he quietly went to visit Troy. It was the first time he’d seen Troy in such a miserable state. He felt terrible for him and told him they should be good friends from then on.
Troy looked at him coldly and spat at him.
After that incident, Troy didn’t change at all. He even blamed Draven for the beating he got from Eric, and he became worse than before.
Draven gradually found ways to deal with it and didn’t suffer much later on.
Looking back now, Troy was just a kid who grew up wrong. Those things were long past. They could be forgotten, but the scars in his heart were like the scars on his wrist. They’d faded, but they were still there.
So Draven never had any unrealistic expectations about Troy. Just like when they were kids, Troy would never give up.
Draven scratched at the scar that was invisible to the naked eye. He was closest to Martin, but he wasn’t Martin’s only grandson.
Because of that bit of blood relation, he couldn’t completely crush Troy.
And Troy was reckless. If things turned into a direct clash, the Winstons would be dragged in as well, turning them into a laughingstock across Trensea and gossip fodder for every social circle. Martin had spent his entire life building his prestige. That kind of blow could genuinely trigger a heart attack.
And then there was Ayla.
Whether she could endure it was one thing, but she definitely wouldn’t like it.
Ayla was a gentle person. After the divorce, she didn’t want deep ties with the Winstons. A head–on conflict. would throw her into the center of a media storm, which was completely opposite to the life she wanted in the future, and it would directly lead to her becoming more and more unhappy being with him.
If dating made her unhappy, what was the point of staying together?
Draven knew he wasn’t a necessity in Ayla’s life.
So he wouldn’t let that happen.
He would never ignore Ayla’s feelings the way Troy did.
Call it macho or call it domineering–Draven believed that as a man, protecting his woman was the most basic responsibility. If Ayla wasn’t taken into account, then any promises he made would be utterly hollow.
For all these reasons, Draven could only deal with Troy through “small moves.”

It might not be satisfying, but as long as it made Troy scramble, it was enough.

If Troy tried to cause trouble first, Draven was confident he wouldn’t let him gain a single advantage.
And Draven could already tell. Troy didn’t really “care” about him as an older brother at all. After the divorce, Troy only went after Ayla. Right now, Troy only cared about Ayla. Ayla choosing him was the part Troy couldn’t accept.
So the key point was making Troy stay far away from Aya.
That was also the help Ayla had sought from him in the first place. She didn’t want Troy harassing her anymore and hoped Draven could isolate Troy. If Ayla hadn’t needed him even a little, they wouldn’t have ended up together. Now that they were together, this was his responsibility. It didn’t require any kind of exchange. A man protecting his woman was simply how it should be.
Draven called Herman. “Got the files?”
Troy had too much free time if he could run all the way to Aqualith just to block Ayla. He was too idle. Giving him something to do would solve it.
Herman said, “We’ve looked into it. Troy’s cousins, Ollie and Lance, both graduated from top schools and are very capable, but they really can’t compare to Troy. After Troy took power, he pushed them aside hard. They’re almost cut off from the Winstons now. They do some investments across different industries and can make money, but their capital is limited and lacks scale. They can’t amount to much. Even together, they have no competitiveness to challenge Troy’s position.”
Draven said coldly, “Send them a few projects to handle
