Lingering pests can sometimes be more useful than a knife that kills in a single blow.
Herman had questions, but no objections. “Alright. I’ll send over some projects while dangling a few big promises in front of them. Once their ambitions grow, they won’t be so afraid of Troy anymore.”
With that settled, Draven hung up.
A message from Ayla popped up.
My girlfriend’s awake.
Of course, Draven went to find her. The moment he opened the study door, he ran straight into Ayla.
Ayla had been about to knock and got startled. She laughed at him. “What a coincidence. You almost gave me a heart attack.”
Draven’s expression softened instantly. “How long have you been up?”
“Not long.”
Draven stepped toward Ayla, ready to hug and kiss her.
Ayla pushed him away. “Wait. Let me brush my teeth first.”
Draven leaned down and kissed the side of her neck anyway.
The force was strong, possessive.
Ayla let him kiss her for a moment before finally slipping into the bathroom.
Draven followed her in. While she was brushing her teeth, he pressed close behind her and wrapped his long arms easily around her waist, his palm slowly rubbing over her abdomen. The intimacy felt incredibly good, incredibly comforting.
Ayla figured he probably wanted to touch somewhere softer too, but he didn’t cross the line, which secretly made her pretty happy.
After Ayla rinsed and finished, Draven’s kisses traced slowly from her neck, inch by inch, until she had no choice but to turn around and kiss him back.
He really loved kissing her.
To make things more comfortable, Draven lifted her up like last night and set her on the vanity:
This time, though, he didn’t kiss her for long before letting go.
Draven leaned against the edge of the counter, holding her close.
“Did you sleep well last night?” His gaze was gentle.
Ayla had just finished kissing him. There was a faint mist in her clear eyes, like a bright moon, soft yet cool.
“I slept really deeply. Didn’t even dream.” Ayla asked, “What about you?”

Chapter 429 Proof of Reality
Draven looked into her eyes. “You want the truth?”
Ayla leaned back slightly, and the man immediately pressed forward, their chests touching.
His chest was firm.
Ayla said, “Did you not sleep well?”
Draven said, “I thought I was dreaming. I was scared I’d wake up. I kept thinking about it all night.”

Ayla rested her hands on his shoulders, her wrists naturally falling behind his back. She vaguely sensed that Draven might actually feel a little insecure.
“Now the dream’s over, and we’re still together.” Ayla smiled. “If it were a dream, we wouldn’t be holding each other this tight. So we’re really dating. This isn’t a dream.”
Draven said, “Is there better proof?”
Under his intense, affectionate gaze, Ayla’s heart started racing.
His lips were beautifully shaped. She leaned in and kissed him.
Because they were holding each other so tightly, one of his hands completely circled Ayla’s waist. She was nearly out of breath, her hand unconsciously grabbing the hair at the back of his head.
When the kiss ended, she was panting.
Ayla freed one hand and let her fingertip glide over his damp lips, whispering, “Feel it now?”
There was desire in Draven’s eyes that Ayla had never seen before, and this different side of him made her heart pound.
Maybe he’d been like this last night too. She just hadn’t seen it clearly.
Ayla’s heart was racing.
“Still not enough,” he said in a hoarse voice.
“What counts as enough?” Ayla asked softly, as if whispering a secret.
Draven kissed the fingertip resting by his lips. “Wanna talk it over?”
Ayla laughed. It was their first day together, and they were still adjusting to the change in their relationship.
She pulled her finger away so he couldn’t kiss it, but mischievously brushed his lips instead, teasing him on
purpose.
“What do you expect from a girlfriend?”
“Not much.” Draven’s gaze was deep. “If we’re free, just do more of what we were doing just now.”
