Ayla leaned over to take a look. Draven was placing an order to buy her a phone. For small things like this, he could’ve asked his personal assistant to handle it, but his habit of keeping distance applied to everything. Anything private he could do himself, he preferred to do personally. Ayla didn’t think it bothered Draven at all. Anything he truly didn’t want to deal with would be handed off to Will.

Ayla felt that his homey vibe wasn’t just because he’d changed into loungewear. Draven would even go shopping with her. He wasn’t like those hyperinfluentia, workobsessed CEOs. She’d already felt this when he had just returned to the country.

She had a boyfriend who felt very downtoearth.

I want the white one,Ayla said.

Draven selected the white model and bought it for her.

Ayla studied his side profile, quietly admiring it. Even though he didn’t say anything, she could feel it. She leaned over and kissed the corner of his mouth, then kissed his lips.

Draven’s body stiffened sharply. He instinctively wrapped an arm around her waist. His palm tightened, faint veins standing out.

If you kiss me again, I won’t be able to control myself,he said.

Then lose control.

Draven froze.

He looked at her fearless expression, held back again and again, then still asked, What did Max want with you?

Ayla had guessed right. Draven really was jealous.

His brows were drawn together, concern settling in his eyes.

Ayla’s heart softened. She didn’t like seeing him jealous.

When I woke up this morning, Max messaged me saying Troy was sick and had a fever all night. He wanted me to go see him. I called Max and told him to stop bothering me. That’s all. The text just now was him apologizing.”

Draven pressed his lips together. If Troy wasn’t mentioned, he wouldn’t think much of it. But once Troy came up, even though he knew there was no need to care, he couldn’t ignore his existence. That man was like a thorn he couldn’t pull out.

Has Ayla kissed Troy like this before?

Draven’s gaze darkened, and he kissed her hard.

Whether she had or not didn’t matter. Ayla was in his arms now. That was enough.

At the hotel restaurant, Halle and James arrived.

They even brought a bouquet of roses.

Ayla sat next to Draven, with the two of them across the table.

The roses were placed beside Ayla. The flowers were pretty, and so was the woman.

Ayla wasn’t as thickskinned as she’d thought. They were all close friends, but now that she and Draven were together, she felt like the way those two looked at her was different. She wasn’t used to it. Especially James. He had a big mouth and loved teasing people. She wondered if he’d tease her.

But James was unusually quiet.

Ayla was surprised. When did you get to Aqualith?

James snorted. If I didn’t come, how would I witness you two lovebirds?

Ayla smiled. You wanna get in a relationship too?

James said, Of course. But where am I supposed to find someone? The ones I like don’t like me. The ones I don’t like all wanna sleep with me.”

Ayla was speechless. I guarantee the person you like will be able to keep you in line.

James rolled a huge eye. Forget it. I think all my flaws are pretty interesting. If I turned into an old fossil like your guy here, what fun would dating be?James gave a suggestive smile. Look at you two. You don’t even look like a couple. Pretty bland, huh?

Ayla raised a brow. Jealous?

James said, Not at all.

Ayla reached out and scratched Draven’s chin. Draven grabbed her hand, held it, and rubbed her palm. He placed food on her plate. Eat more.

James’s expression soured. Damn.

He turned and glared at Halle. Enjoying the view?

Halle sipped her coffee comfortably. What do you mean? There’s no view here.

James said, Never mind.

He leaned closer to Halle, acting all cheesy. How about now? Am I a nice view or what?

With Draven and Ayla right there, Halle stared at him in disbelief. It’s early in the morning. Stop acting crazy.

I got triggered, okay?

If you’re triggered, go bother Mr. Storm. I can’t deal with you.
