Chapter 438 A Quiet Distance
Finished
Rushing things always came with serious hidden risks. The key was to set a goal, then complete it in stages.
Ayla didn’t just chase deadlines; she controlled the pace.
She had to make sure everything unfolded according to her plan.
After a one–hour meeting outlining Centurion Entertainment’s overall future direction, Ayla moved on to check her next item on the schedule.
She needed to stop by Storm Group to say goodbye to colleagues she’d worked with for three years. By tradition, there was a gathering that evening.
A gathering meant drinking. Ayla’s knee was injured, so she wasn’t suited to drink alcohol.
She called Blake to say she wouldn’t be going. It also counted as a formal farewell to Storm Group.
Blake said that once her knee healed, he’d definitely make it up to her with another gathering. Ayla didn’t refuse. They could arrange a time later.
Next on the schedule.
In a week, Ayla would be visiting Casey on set.
There wasn’t much else going on during this week.
Ayla and Halle were co–owners now. Together, they permanently owned one tech company and one entertainment company.
Baili Entertainment had started as a spur–of–the–moment side project for Ayla.
Now, she was going to make it exceptionally good.
ZeitTech was even more the result of her and Halle’s shared effort. Ayla led the tech side, while Halle handled management and business. Recently, the R&D team they’d been building was nearly complete, and Lisa’s personal investment funds had already been secured.
As for her thesis, the data she needed had been handed over to a small internal team at ZeitTech. Tonight, Ayla would go back to analyze a batch of experimental data she’d just received.
Ayla was about to get very busy. She liked an orderly work life and an orderly personal life.
The biggest change in her personal life was that she was dating now.
Adult relationships didn’t mean sticking together all the time.
When work got busy, you could even forget about it.
Only when Draven came to pick her up did she feel the difference. This man injected energy and sweetness into her exhausted body and mind..
Ayla got into Draven’s car.

The door closed. Draven took her hand and kissed her.

They still lived together. The difference was that before, they were just cohabiting. Now, they were a couple.
In their own home, they could be close without restraint.
Before bed, Ayla showered and washed her hair. Draven washed up in his own guest room, then came out in pajamas, his hair still damp, holding a hair dryer as he helped her dry her hair.
Once Ayla’s hair was dry, Draven didn’t bother with his own. He hugged her and kissed her all the way to the bed.
Ayla was pressed down onto the bed as the man gently nipped at her neck and collarbone, all within safe boundaries.
Just as they were about to sleep, Ayla didn’t expect Draven to
Ayla froze. “Why? Don’t you like being close to me?”

Ayla stiffened all over. Her face instantly burned.

Draven’s expression was calm.
The contrast with his body was too extreme.
Just sensing the size and presence was enough to make her heart race. She definitely wouldn’t be able to handle it.
Ayla’s mind flashed with images she couldn’t even describe. She slammed the brakes.
“I–I really don’t want to…”
Draven chuckled softly. “I know.”
Ayla had already developed a kind of phobia about this, and physically, it would hurt. She really couldn’t handle it. “Then what about you?”
Draven said, “You don’t need to worry about me.”
