She blinked. “Don’t I already text you every day?”

“You told Herman. But you didn’t tell me.”

His tone tightened. Then he leaned in and bit her ear, not too hard, but not gentle either. “Herman’s the one who told me about it.”

Ayla shoved at him, annoyed. “You’re so petty, Mr. Storm.”

She ran her hand down his abs and teased, “Why do you always want everything?”

Draven caught her hand and held it in place. “Just say yes, okay?”

He rarely asked for anything. She was in a great mood. There was no reason to say no. So she said yes.

To her, Draven was the beautiful one. He was the kind of man you just wanted to spoil.

But beautiful could still be dangerous. And she was almost out of energy to deal with him.

Troy was holed up in his study. She made him a drink and went to bring it in.

When she opened the door, she saw him holding a glass. It had a pine pattern and looked delicate. She immediately recognized it. That was the glass Ayla had broken in two. Mr. Winston had it repaired and left it in the study.

Troy didn’t look up until she set the coffee on the desk. Then he frowned. “Why didn’t you knock?”

His frown deepened. He set the glass down and took a sip from the drink.

Laura stayed put. She clearly wanted to say something.

Troy glanced up. “What is it?”

Laura took a breath. “Mr. Winston, that’s Ayla’s glass, right? You’ve been holding it a lot lately. Are you… thinking about her?”

Troy let out a cold laugh. “Yeah, I’m thinking about her. Thinking about what she did to me. When she gets back, I’m going to settle it. This stupid glass? It’s here to make sure I don’t forget.”

That glass was something Ayla had given to Draven. There was no way Troy cared about it.

Laura went pale. “Won’t that scare her off?”
