Bria was pissed.

But that didn’t last. It lit her up instead. Guys who were hard to control were way more fun. If Kaleb had caved immediately like every other desperate idiot chasing her car, sucking up, and pitching garbage ideas just to get a check, then he would’ve been worthless.
Kaleb had backbone. That was why she picked him.
Her friends came screeching around the corner in a row of flashy supercars. They saw Bria still standing there, surrounded by the stink of exhaust. The sound of engines hitting the brakes rumbled through the
street.
The one in front rolled his window down and looked at her face. “That guy’s got nerve,” he said. “You want me to send someone after him? Rough him up a little? Or maybe get him framed and throw him in jail for a while? My uncle can make it happen.”
“Shut your mouth,” Bria snapped. Her voice was sharp, full of power. “He’s off–limits. He’s mine.”
The guy blinked. “Seriously? You’re into him? That’s wild.”
“You wouldn’t understand,” she said, smiling. “Toys have to misbehave. If they’re tame like you? Boring.”
The whole group laughed. They got it. The more stubborn the target, the better the game. This wasn’t new to them.
“Alright, alright. Keep us updated,” one of them said, grinning. “When he’s eating out of your hand, bring him out. Make him drink with us. We’ll have him dancing on tables.” He narrowed his eyes. “That punk hit me, remember? When the time comes, we’re all getting payback.”
Bria dropped her gaze and gave him a cold stare. “Scram.”
“Whatever you say, queen.” He backed off fast. The engines roared again, and the cars peeled out down the street, loud and cocky.
Bria turned to Renee. “Why are you staring at me like some worried mom?”
Renee hesitated. “Bria, Kaleb’s got a temper. What if he loses it and snaps back?”
Bria didn’t even flinch. “Yeah, he mouthed off. And I still smiled at him. So guess what? I’m gonna make him pay even more for it.”
Renee was used to this. Bria changed moods fast. Just earlier, she wanted Kaleb on the floor, begging for mercy. Now, she was obsessed. She wanted to play a game of hunt with him.
Bria hated groveling. She never played nice to get close to someone. But this time, she was doing it anyway. That feeling? It was addictive. She’d never chased someone like this before.
Renee didn’t say a word. When Bria was hooked, it was best to just follow her lead.

It was late. Ayla was ready to go home.
The roads had cleared after rush hour. But in her rearview mirror, she spotted Troy’s car getting closer.
Typical. When people were around, Troy played the role of calm, respectable brother. Always careful about appearances. Now that everyone had left? He was back to chasing her down.
A red light was coming up about sixty feet away. Ayla judged the distance, stepped on the gas, and accelerated. Troy’s car swerved in from the side to cut her off.
She yanked the wheel. Her car slipped past his, inches to spare. Then she floored it and shot through the intersection just before the light turned red.
Troy’s car got stuck behind. Inside his vehicle, Isabella let out a shaky breath. Her voice trembled. “Mr. Winston … How did she do that? I thought we were about to crash.”
The driver looked just as shaken. He’d tried to follow orders and block her, but this wasn’t what he expected. He thought he could box her in and force her to stop.
But Ayla didn’t even hesitate. She was one second from plowing straight through them. He panicked first.
Troy sat stiff in the back seat. His face was stone. The tension in the car was brutal. No one dared to speak.
Isabella struggled for words. Ayla’s car had already vanished down the road. There was no point in chasing
her.
She said carefully, “We did check her background before. Nothing came up. But we’ve seen her near racetracks. If she drives like that… it makes sense now.”
Troy kept thinking about Bria. She changed her attitude way too fast. Ayla must’ve found her weak spot.
