Chapter 492 His Anger
Finished
Kayla, like any normal mother, also pushed Draven about getting married and worried about his future. Surprisingly, he responded to her instead of shutting her down. At least it hadn’t turned into a complete fallout. That alone made her feel a bit relieved. She knew plenty of families where parents and children completely cut ties. Kids refused to visit, and parents tried everything with no results.
Now that Draven had someone he was seeing and even asked her to help arrange things with Ayla, Kayla felt their relationship easing up. Wanting to show off felt natural. What mother wouldn’t be proud of a son with a strong career and a happy love life?
Jeremy was Kayla’s younger brother. Sure, he and Draven clashed when Draven was young, but they were both adults now. There was no reason to stay hostile forever. They were family. If something good happened, why shouldn’t she share it?
Kayla never imagined that something so minor would make the usually calm Draven snap at her. The anger in his voice was something she had never heard before.
He actually dared yell at her and say such harsh things?
Kayla was furious. “So now you’re threatening me, Draven? Wow, you’ve really gotten bold. I’m impressed! So what if your uncle knows you’re dating? Is that worth yelling at me like this? I’m happy you’ve found love, and this is how you act? Threatening me and questioning me? Who taught you to behave this way?”
Draven abruptly grabbed the edge of the car, the hand holding his phone tightening hard. Veins stood out at his temples as the tension around him dropped sharply.
He seemed even angrier now.
When the driver saw Draven step out, he hurried over to open the door. But seeing his boss on the phone, clearly off, the driver stopped a short distance away.
He didn’t expect Draven’s voice to rise so fast, filled with anger, followed by such a tense presence.
Draven’s fingers dug into the car door. No one knew how much force he was using. His sleeve stretched tight over his forearm muscles. For a second, it looked like he might tear the door off.
He was clearly on the edge, yet still forcing himself to stay under control.
What on earth is going on with Mr. Storm?
The driver had worked for Draven ever since he returned to Drakoria. Draven always felt distant, but he never lost his temper with the driver. Sometimes, he even invited him to eat together, though the driver usually declined out of nerves. That alone showed how polite and well–mannered Draven was.
Draven was extremely capable. While driving, the driver sometimes overheard work issues, like betrayals by ruthless subordinates, things that crossed every moral line. Anyone else would’ve blown up long ago. But Draven stayed calm and planned, never allowing his emotions to show.
That kind of restraint earned real respect.
But now, even Draven’s breathing sounded uneven. That was completely unlike him.

Who is he talking to?
The driver wanted to help, but he knew it wasn’t his place.
Draven frowned. He hadn’t expected Kayla to miss his pain entirely, and that hurt. He also hadn’t realized that, in her mind, his relationship with Jeremy had always been fine.
It took him a moment to barely steady himself. When he spoke again, his voice was icy. “I’m informing you, not asking for advice. You’re not in a position to lecture me.”
With that, he lowered the phone, his arm dropping to his side. Kayla must’ve kept talking, but he didn’t listen.
His hand swayed slightly at his side. Then he hung up, opened the door, and got in.
The driver quickly returned to the car. Knowing his boss just wanted to go home, he drove toward Westhaven.
Inside the dim car, Draven sat quietly by the window. As streetlights passed, his face flashed into view- handsome, blank, eyes lowered. He looked calm and serious, giving nothing away. He didn’t seem lonely, but he wasn’t happy either. It was a cold, empty calm. He needed that stillness. Any comfort would feel like interference.
