Chapter 529 The Sea Outside the Window

The curtains were pulled open just a little. If she turned her head, she could see the ocean far away. Ayla slowly closed her eyes.
“Did you fall asleep?” Draven’s hand rested gently on her back.
“No,” Ayla said softly. “I just really like this moment.”
“Me too.”
Ayla asked, “What about you? How do you feel?”
Draven looked at the distant sea. His arms tightened around her waist, pulling her closer. He had lived for 29 years, but the days with Ayla had given him the closeness and warmth he had always wanted. They were the happiest days of his life. “I want to cherish every moment with you,” he said quietly.
Ayla smiled, climbed up in front of him, and kissed him.
Draven turned and pinned her gently under him. He kissed from her lips down to her neck, slow and warm. His hand squeezed her lightly.
“Why did you want to give me the bracelet?” Draven asked, curious.
Ayla grabbed his hand. “If you keep doing that, we really won’t have time later. I only planned for a little flirting.”
Draven laughed. “Are you more sensitive than before?”
Ayla paused. “… That’s your fault.”
“Yeah, my fault,” he admitted.
Ayla couldn’t stay mad at him. Once he got what he wanted, he became completely soft toward her. And honestly, she liked that. She touched his wrist. “Before this, I felt a scar here that hasn’t fully faded. I asked you and you said it was just an accident when you were little. But after all these years, it’s still there. It must have been serious back then. So I thought … wearing the bracelet could cover it a little. And if you want to keep it hidden, you can still wear your watch over it. Anyway… that’s why I gave it to you.”
She blinked and looked at him. “It’s pretty good, right?”
Draven’s scar actually came from when Troy once tied him up in the woods. When Ayla asked about it, he didn’t want her to worry, so he brushed it off.
But she remembered.
Things he didn’t even care about, things he mentioned casually–Ayla remembered all of them.
“What’s wrong? Why are you looking at me like that?” she asked.
In his heart, he thought, he loved her even more now. “I really like it,” he said. “And I was surprised.”

“If you didn’t like it, I’d be mad,” Ayla said. “I spent a lot of time on it.”
“How could I not like something you gave me?”
“That’s better.”
Draven’s gaze grew deeper. “I like everything about you.”

He must have been completely addicted to Ayla. He couldn’t imagine life without her. If she ever left, it would feel like unbearable pain. Even now, his chest ached slightly. Maybe loving someone too much really could hurt.
Ayla had no idea how much he overthought things. She just squinted happily. Something about his words felt a little meaningful in a deeper way, and it made her heart flutter.
Their friends would arrive at the villa around 6 p.m., so there was plenty of time.
In the morning, Ayla only needed to make a few calls to confirm details. But Draven took over the task, even though it was his birthday party.
“I’m the one throwing you a birthday party,” Ayla said.
Draven kissed her. “You’d done more than enough. Way more than I expected. Now just relax and have fun.”
She studied his expression and knew she could not argue with that.
He would handle everything.
Unlike some rich kids who couldn’t even take care of themselves, Draven was good at everyday life. He could handle anything personally.
Troy wasn’t like that. They both grew up extremely wealthy, but Troy was more like a classic spoiled heir who needed people to take care of him.
Draven wasn’t. He was capable and could do all sorts of things. He took care of her too.
The morning was relaxed. After flying overnight and only sleeping a few hours, they both felt tired. After lunch, they took a short nap of about thirty minutes.
That was vacation life. Everything made you feel lazy.
When they woke up, it was only 2 p.m. Ayla stayed in bed with Draven for a while. Then his hands started wandering downward again.
