Chapter 533 The Page She’ll Turn
Because to her, her best friend’s feelings mattered most.
If Winnie was happy, then that would be perfect. This was the life Winnie wanted.

Ayla asked curiously, “Did you ever tell Mr. Shawn you want him to be your boyfriend? Like, date him for real?”
Winnie looked shocked. “Date?”
She laughed, surprised. “That’s impossible. How could I ever be good enough for Shawn? His family is part of the Aqualith elite. I’m just a model. I could never be his girlfriend. Mr. Shawn will marry someone from a family just like his. They’ll get married. They’ll have kids. And I’ll just be someone from his past. Someone small. Someone not important.”
Matching social status did make sense.
Ayla hated hearing Winnie thought so little about herself.
“You’re amazing. How could you be insignificant? I would remember you my whole life. You matter, okay?”
Winnie sighed softly. “If I were a guy, I’d be crazy about you too. No wonder Halle likes you so much.”
Ayla was the cool, smart type. The kind of beauty that naturally attracted similar people. And she was charming without even trying. Even straight girls were attracted to her, and so was anyone who liked
women.
Ayla paused. “Then why are you still upset? At least you two are still together right now.”
Winnie’s eyes dimmed a little. She spoke helplessly. “Mr. Shawn is the next head of his family, but his older sister is extremely powerful. They’re competing, both openly and secretly. He can’t win by himself. He needs a marriage alliance to secure his position.
“Recently, he’s been going on blind dates with rich, powerful daughters from large families. He and I will end soon. After this vacation, I’ll break up with him myself. I might act like a doll who listens to him, but I won’t be the other woman. Not when it involves two powerful families. I’d just be collateral damage. I can’t risk offending his future wife.” She gave a small shrug. “Let’s just call this a breakup trip. Maybe I feel a tiny bit sad. Maybe a little reluctant.”
Winnie smiled, surprisingly calm. “Actually, I wasn’t even his real girlfriend. Mr. Shawn probably just saw me as something to pass time with. He never liked me. I just did my job and stayed obedient. Like work, you know? So breaking up is fine. When I leave him, he’ll just be one page I’ve turned. And I’ll still have the whole forest ahead of me. Ayla, I’m okay. Be happy for me.”
Ayla could tell Winnie was reluctant to leave Shawn, but she was also truly okay.
She didn’t judge Shawn. Her sister’s feelings mattered most.
If Winnie wouldn’t get hurt, then that was good enough.
“Then, congratulations in advance, Winnie.”

Winnie laughed and planted a loud kiss on Ayla’s cheek.
The next second, a long, slender hand grabbed Winnie’s wrist and pulled her up from the couch.
Shawn wrapped an arm tightly around her waist and said, “Don’t go around kissing Ayla. Mr. Storm will get jealous.”
Winnie nodded quickly. “Okay. I won’t kiss her anymore.”
Ayla was rendered speechless.
If he gets jealous over Noah, fine. He was a man.
But he actually gets jealous of another woman getting close to her? That made no sense.
Shawn was overreacting. Like someone who got scared once and never forgot it.
“Mr. Shawn, Winnie is my friend. Don’t mind us,” Ayla said. She stood and walked to Draven’s side. “Right? You wouldn’t get jealous of a woman.”
Draven looked at her. “Of course I wouldn’t.”
Shawn almost cursed.
How had he never noticed before? Draven, who looked so refined and noble on the outside, was actually putting on an act?
Of course he got jealous.
The way he looked at Winnie just now could have cut her into pieces.
Shawn glanced at Winnie again. How could he fix her habit of hugging people so easily? She’d been around him for a long time and was still this innocent. Maybe she traded her brain for her face and body.
Then again, sometimes Winnie was sharp and quick. Emotionally steady. Easygoing. And she played along with him well. He had never liked people who were actually stupid.
Shawn looked at her and smiled without meaning to. He pressed a kiss to the back of her head.
“You two should learn from us,” Shawn said.
Draven and Ayla stayed calm, unmoved. Their cool, distant aura didn’t change at all. They looked less like people on vacation and more like people attending a business meeting.
