Chapter 535 Under the Same Sky
“Say whatever you want. Just say it to me,” Draven said. “I don’t care what you say.”
Shawn fell silent.
Wait, he couldn’t even joke now? Draven was seriously overprotective.
Shawn had always treated beautiful women politely. Ayla was just Draven’s secretary back then, but he had been respectful. Now he practically treated her like royalty. There was no way he would risk upsetting her.
Most importantly, he hadn’t even done anything wrong.
Draven was way too sensitive.
Herman laughed. “Mr. Storm is very protective of his own.”
Blake said, “That’s called respecting women.”
Herman glanced at her. “Oh. Is that so?”
Shawn raised an eyebrow at Blake. “So you’re saying I don’t respect women?”
Herman jumped in. “What do you think?”
James added, “You just realized that?”
Will nodded. “Totally agree.”
Shawn laughed in disbelief and turned to Winnie. “What do you think?”
Winnie knew he was joking, but she still said what he liked to hear. “You’re really, really great.”
Then she leaned softly against his shoulder. With her warm body against him, Shawn instantly lost his temper. He complained playfully, “All of you are on Draven’s side. I’m not wasting my time arguing with you. Winnie is my princess. She thinks I’m great, so the rest of you don’t matter. You can tease me all you want–I’ll take it.”
Then he changed his tone. “But don’t focus all the firepower on me. Didn’t Mr. Storm say it already? If you have something, go at him.”
Draven stayed calm, focused on feeding Ayla, and completely unbothered.
Suddenly, Ayla grabbed Draven’s hand and smiled at Shawn. “I won’t allow it.”
Shawn was wordless.
Halle, who sat beside Ayla, grabbed Ayla’s other arm. “I’m jealous, Ayla.”
James glanced at them and snorted. “Draven, watch out. Someone might steal Ayla from you.”
Instead of backing down, Ayla leaned into it. She wrapped one arm around Halle, kissed her cheek, then

turned to look at Draven.
Draven was tall. Even sitting down, he was still taller than Ayla.
“Lean closer,” she said. Draven cooperated. Ayla kissed his cheek.
Click! Blake captured the moment.
“Beautiful people, beautiful scene,” Blake said.
Draven said, “Send it to me.”
Blake sent it right away.
Draven nodded at his phone and saved the photo.
Shawn saw this and honestly had nothing left to say. He lifted his glass and drank it in one go right in fron of them, silently admitting defeat.
Then everyone kept eating, drinking, and chatting. From time to time, loud laughter broke out. A moment later, someone would start teasing someone else again. The whole place was full of joy.
Shawn let out an emotional sigh. “It’s been a long time since I felt this relaxed. My old parties were way too wild. Simple is way more comfortable.”
He looked at someone who would understand him. “Am I right, James?”
James looked confused. “When were my parties ever wild?”
Shawn was sharp. He gave James a meaningful smile. After all, they were both men. When James used to go crazy, he really went crazy. Shawn just didn’t bother exposing him.
Taking a quiet moment, Ayla chatted softly with Draven. “So, do you like it?”
“Of course,” Draven said.
“I’m glad you like it,” Ayla replied.
A faint smile rested on her face. Draven couldn’t help reaching out and touching her cheek. The coldness. that usually filled his unreadable eyes melted away, replaced with warm gentleness.
Ayla could tell he was truly in a good mood. Her smile grew brighter.
Around them, everyone else was joking, talking, and messing around. But the way Ayla and Draven interacted felt almost like a scene from a painting. There was an invisible barrier around them that no one else could step into.
Yet when they weren’t focused on each other, they blended naturally into the group. The atmosphere stayed easy and harmonious.
But the moment their eyes met, the rest of the world seemed to disappear.
About 1.3 miles away, an oil tanker was stopped in the ocean.
