Chapter 543 When Feelings Cut Deeper
The fight hadn’t gotten too serious. Even though they threw a few hits, it only lasted a moment before everyone stepped in and stopped them.
Their friends were all here. No one would just stand by and watch things turn ugly.
And honestly, these minor cuts and bruises meant nothing for the group, who had spent years overseas with Draven. To them, this was nothing compared to what they had faced before.
Back in the day, fights at Shawn’s arena had been way worse.
They had seen a lot in life. So they handled things calmly, fast, and without panic.
Within minutes, the broken glass was cleaned up.
The half–finished dinner table was replaced with desserts and drinks. It was almost like nothing had happened.
Except for Draven’s injured arm. Blake wanted to walk over to help him, but Draven stopped her.
Because honestly, this wasn’t about how much blood was spilled. At the core, this was about feelings. And feelings were always the hardest mess to clean up.
If anyone felt the worst right now, it was probably Ayla.
She had put her heart into planning this two–day vacation for everyone. Then Troy showed up and ruined the mood. If anyone least wanted this to happen, it was her.
And who knew whether she would blame herself?
But really, this had nothing to do with Ayla. After a divorce, people go their separate ways. Troy was the one who showed up uninvited.
If Ayla really felt guilty, her friends would definitely comfort her. They would never let her carry that alone.
James gave Halle a look, telling her to go check on Ayla.
Halle was honestly impressed by how fierce Ayla had been earlier. Part of her even thought Ayla should’ve gone harder. Her best friend was still too soft–hearted.
Of course, Ayla wasn’t someone who liked violence. What happened earlier had shocked everyone.
She must have been pushed really far.
“Ayla,” Halle said, walking over, ready to comfort her. But Ayla suddenly seemed to snap back to reality. Her expression returned to normal. She waved her hand and smiled at Halle. “I’m fine.”
Halle studied her face. She really did look fine.
“I was so worried about you.”

“Relax. I’ve got a strong heart. What is there to be scared of?”

Finished
Sure, Ayla was still shocked that Troy had suddenly confessed his love. And everything that happened after that had pushed her over the edge. Then she saw Draven get hurt, and she lost control. But she knew exactly what she had done.
And she didn’t regret it.
Ayla hated this game of being chased and pressured.
The only choice was to stop running and face Troy head–on.
As for her “strong heart“… She had lost her mother when she was young. What pain could be worse than that?
And it wasn’t the first time she had seen Troy lose control. Even when she had once fallen into his hands back in Aqualith, she had never been afraid.
So aside from being shocked by his sudden confession, everything else she felt was anger and exhaustion from being harassed.
But why was everyone looking at her like she was about to cry and needed comfort?
Ayla looked around. “The birthday boy got hurt today. Shouldn’t you all be checking on him? Why are you staring at me? I’m fine.”
Everyone fell silent.
Winnie had barely dared to breathe this whole time. Now she finally let out a long breath and leaned against Shawn’s shoulder.
She looked at Ayla with starry eyes.
Such steady emotions. Such strong control of the room. This woman was magnetic. She looked cool and distant, but she felt warm, like sunlight. Honestly, she was a little jealous of Draven.
Shawn gave Ayla a thumbs–up. “Respect.”
See? That was what it meant to not waste energy overthinking.
Instead, they were the ones worrying themselves sick.
Blake smiled a little. Back then, Ayla had been a junior secretary working under her. Now Draven protected Ayla in every possible way, so people started thinking Ayla was fragile. But that wasn’t true at all.
Ayla ignored her friends and walked straight to Draven.
Because of the height difference, she had to tilt her head to look up at him. The moment their eyes met, something in Draven’s pupils shifted.
