Chapter 558 Too Late For Us
Ayla didn’t react much, but Iris was furious. “You think you’re even worthy?” she snapped.
Isabella felt her opinion of Jed sink to a new low.
Troy stayed silent the whole time. After a moment, he lost his patience. He grabbed an ashtray from the private room and threw it straight at Jed’s head.
Jed snapped out of it at once. He could not say another word.
Troy looked terrifying. Jed knew if he said even one more thing, Troy might really kill him.
Fear took over. He did not dare speak again.
Troy curled his lips slightly. “Apologize.”
Jed dared not argue. He turned to Ayla and apologized right away.
Troy said, “Tell me everything. From the start.”
Jed explained his motive, his plan, and every step he took.
Brooke was only someone he used. He had not taken part in anything.
Troy was not satisfied. But Ayla was there, so he did not hit Jed again. Instead, he gave Isabella a look. She quickly called security.
Ayla thought Troy wanted to protect Jed. She asked, “Aren’t you calling the police?”
The moment Troy heard that, he knew she had misunderstood him.
A sharp pain spread through his chest.
Ayla did not believe he loved her. And honestly, that made sense. He claimed he loved her, but he had hurt her. He had watched her suffer and never stood up for her.
Of course she did not believe him.
Troy met her doubtful eyes and said, “If he stays in my hands, his ending will be worse than getting the police involved.”
His face was dark. He was not joking.
Ayla believed him.
At least this had nothing to do with Troy. And Jed would be punished hard. This incident could end here.
When Troy saw her about to leave, he moved without thinking and reached for her, trying to stop her.
There had been too many times like this. Ayla always left him with a cold back. Just like how he had treated her for the past three years. He had only been rejected a few times, and he already could not take

He had no idea how Ayla had endured it for so long.
Troy clenched his teeth. “Something this serious happened. Where is Draven? Why isn’t he protecting you?”
Ayla looked at him calmly. “That’s none of your business.”
Troy’s expression darkened, but he did not explode like before. The way he looked at her was different
now.
Ayla remembered he claimed he loved her. At the time, other than shocked, she was amused.
Where did Troy get the nerve to say that?
But now that she thought about it, it really was strange. He had gone to find her at that time and place. He had even said it in front of Draven. That was not normal at all.
Maybe some of what he said was true.
Otherwise, how could Troy act so wildly?
So, Troy had fallen in love with her.
After getting married, that had been her only wish. Yet it only came true after the divorce.
But now, she no longer needed his love.
Looking at the man she once loved, Ayla noticed Troy looked thinner and worn out. He was probably sick. But what did that have to do with her?
Fate was strange. When it was gone, it was gone. Ayla would only move forward.
She knew Troy had changed. She knew he could finally listen to her now. For once, she spoke calmly. “Let’s end things properly. No hard feelings. Just go our separate ways.”
This felt like a real ending. They both accepted that they couldn’t continue together. It was peaceful.
Ayla could feel the final period placed between her and Troy.
Troy felt it too.
It was good.
Ayla hated messy endings.
With things settled, she walked toward the exit.
Troy watched her leave without looking back. He held himself back again and again. But when she passed him, he still grabbed her wrist.
Ayla turned back.
