Ayla spoke calmly, but her words made Troy feel his blood turn cold. “What about Draven?” he asked. “You only mentioned breaking up once. You weren’t fighting about it every day. But the moment you said it, he just walked away. Doesn’t that mean he didn’t care that much? Are you still going to choose him?”
Ayla hid the pain of the breakup deep inside herself. Her tone stayed quiet. “No, I won’t.”
When she had loved Troy before, she had fought hard to keep him.
That was what caring looked like. It meant you couldn’t let go easily.
If someone left without trying to stay, then there was no real reluctance.
Troy wasn’t wrong.
After Draven agreed to the breakup, he never once said he still wanted to be with her.
And in a few days, he would probably move to Zheron. He had stepped back again and again, and Ayla had noticed every time.
She wasn’t someone who would chase after a man again and again without any pride.
Those were simply the facts.
Still, Ayla could tell that Draven needed her. After a breakup, no one could truly let go easily. He wasn’t the coward Troy claimed he was.
that
But Ayla had ended the relationship, so Draven wouldn’t beg her to come back. Troy kept insisting that Draven didn’t care about her enough, but that didn’t really matter.
She had been the one to end things.
A breakup meant going separate ways. It meant walking away and slowly forgetting.
Of course, when someone asks to break up, they also have to be ready for different reactions. Some people refuse to let go and keep chasing after you.
That was Troy. Stubborn and obsessed.
Trying to keep you means he really can’t let go,
And some people don’t try to stop you at all. That was Draven. Maybe he simply respected her decision.

He had always been like that.
When they were together, he listened to her.
:
He listened to her even when she wanted to end the relationship.
Wasn’t that exactly the kind of man she knew? The perfect Draven.
Maybe she should even thank him for respecting her so much.
Yet, even as she had that thought, a sharp pain quietly pierced her heart.
People were complicated.

Deep down, everyone hoped the person they loved would care about them. They wanted to be seen. They wanted to matter. They wanted someone to be happy when they arrived and sad when they left.
Troy gave a bitter smile. “So the only reason you keep me around is because of the kids?”
Ayla didn’t hesitate. “Yes. Because of the kids.”
As soon as she finished speaking, Troy suddenly pulled her into a tight embrace. He held her face and tried to kiss her. Ayla was right there in his arms. Their bodies were pressed together. Yet somehow, he still couldn’t reach her heart.
Ayla twisted his waist sharply. Troy gasped and quickly let her go.
Ayla wiped her lips coldly. “Get lost.”
Troy looked at her with resentment. “When Draven kissed you, you didn’t push him away? My first kiss was with you.”
Ayla met his gaze calmly, “Any kiss forced on me without my permission–I hate it.”
Draven had once bitten her lips until they bled. At the time, she had felt a little scared. There had been no warmth in that kiss at all. How could she possibly like something like that?
Troy still refused to give up. “I want to kiss you,” he said quietly. “Can I?”
Ayla looked at him tiredly. “Troy, you’re acting like a child.”
“How else am I supposed to act?” he asked quickly. “Should I just give up on you? Should I accept that this is my fate? I can’t do that, Ayla. Only someone like Draven, someone who doesn’t care enough, would agree to break up and walk away without a care.”
His voice grew more heated as he spoke. “But I’m different. I know one thing for sure. In this

life, I will only love you. I need you. You’re the one I’ve chosen, and that will never change. I won’t fall in love with anyone else. Even if you refuse to be with me, there will never be another woman in my life.”
He grabbed Ayla’s hand tightly. “And don’t forget–we have two children together.”
Ayla listened to his emotional speech without interrupting him. Then she calmly opened the video Max had recorded.
She didn’t say a single word, but the meaning behind her action was clear and painfully ironic.
Troy watched the video again. At the same time, he remembered what Ayla had said earlier. She had been so weak at the hospital that she didn’t even have the strength to take a cab home. There had been no one beside her to help. And when she had called him, he rejected the call because he was with Skyla.
Troy couldn’t face himself. How could Ayla possibly believe his promises after that?
Under Ayla’s colder and colder gaze, Troy felt so ashamed that he couldn’t continue speaking.
In the end, he simply wrapped his arms around her again. “I’m sorry,” he murmured. “I’m really sorry.”
He hoped she could hear how much he regretted everything. For a moment, Troy almost wanted to beg the heaven for another chance.
But the heaven seemed to reject him again.
There had to be a way. There had to be. The children were still here. Kids, please help your dad. I’m probably using you, but I can’t lose your mother.
After the family gathering, a formal dinner followed, Martin had arranged for housekeepers and nannies to look after the babies, so the little ones were in good hands. Juliet and the others stayed for a short while after dinner before leaving. Ayla also prepared to go. She left together
with Kaleb.
After they got into the car, Kaleb glanced at her and noticed her red eyes. “Did Troy bother you again?” he asked.
Ayla simply replied, “Let’s go.”
Kaleb studied her face for a moment longer, He seemed to understand what had happened. Without saying anything, he suddenly opened the car door and got out.
Bria noticed his dark expression and frowned. “Why are you back again?” she asked.
Kaleb looked at her coldly. “Where’s your brother?”

“In the nursery,” Bria answered without thinking. But right after that, she frowned in annoyance. Why should she answer whatever he asked? Her expression turned cold. “Why are you looking for him?”
