“I saw you jump off the cruise ship with my own eyes and rescue Ayla,” Draven said. His tone remained calm. “You always use that moment to glorify yourself, but the truth is that even without you, I would have been there. You were just a few minutes faster than me.”
Troy refused to believe any of it. “Bullshit. That’s not what happened at all…”
Draven cut him off. “Ayla liked you for only one reason. You were always a little luckier than me. Without that luck, you would never have had the chance to get close to her. From the ver beginning, the person standing beside Ayla should have been me. So nothing about her was ever naturally yours, Troy. Stop lying to yourself.”
Each word carried a quiet but crushing pressure. “From this moment on, your luck has run ou The children and Ayla, I’m taking them both. I’ll use every method I have. Because neither th children nor Ayla are something you deserve.”
After Draven said that, he had no patience to hear whatever Troy might say next. He ended th call immediately. Then he gave Herman a few instructions and made two more phone calls.
After finishing everything, Draven finally ate his meal in the study.
When he finished eating, he went to check on the babies.
Draven hoped Ayla could live as carefree as Floyd and Esme. But people always grew up, and with growing up came troubles. He wasn’t afraid of Ayla encountering problems. What bothered him was when the problems exceeded what she could handle, forcing her into such a helpless position.
What he needed to do was clear away the trouble that refused to go away.
After finishing her meal, Ayla took advantage of the moment when she still felt relatively well. She confirmed the final experimental data from this trip with her assistant, then called Halle to talk about both work and life.
“I’m at Draven’s place right now,” Ayla said. After eating, she had come outside alone to walk around. The place was incredibly large. Even just taking a walk could lead her onto a quiet mountain road where no one would disturb her. She looked at the beautiful flowers, plants, and trees around her. “I got sick, so I might have to stay here for a few days.”
“What happened to you?”
“Just a small cold.”

“That’s good. But why are you at Draven’s place?”
“It’s a long story…”

“Wait. Did you and Draven get back together?”
“No.”
“Then why are you two together?”
Ayla told Halle everything from beginning to end.
Halle took a long moment before responding. “I swear, I can’t believe this. If Draven wanted to see you, why didn’t he say anything earlier? Instead he just stole the babies without a word. And Troy is completely insane. The babies went missing and he actually hid it from you. What was the point of hiding that? Forget Troy for now. From what you’re saying, Draven plans to chase you again. What are you going to do?”
“I haven’t thought that far yet. Right now I just want to focus on getting healthy. After that I’ll see what happens next. When you’re sick, your brain doesn’t work well anyway. So I’m not going to stress about it. I’ll just do whatever makes me happy. As long as the babies are okay, that’s enough.”
If something made her unhappy, she wouldn’t do it. If there was someone she didn’t want to see, she simply wouldn’t see them. It was that simple.
“That’s fair. Babe, work has been crazy lately. I probably pushed you too hard. Now that you’ve finished developing the product, the next steps are on me. You can relax for a while, recover your health, and spend time with the babies. As for you and Draven, just follow your heart. I’ll support you no matter what.”
“Love you, Halle.”
“Love you too.”
After hanging up, Ayla checked the messages Max had sent her. There were a lot of them. He said he couldn’t take her away right now, but he would contact her the moment he had any updates. He also said he had gone to see Troy. Troy was in terrible condition, and Max had taken a punch.
Ayla had only been with Max for four days, but so much had happened during those four days. that it felt like a very long time had passed.
Originally, she had been single. She had thought she could completely throw Draven out of her mind and be with anyone she wanted. But now, Ayla wasn’t sure if she should continue maintaining this surface–level relationship with Max.

Before they started seeing each other, Max had already made it clear that the relationship could end at any time. He enjoyed spending time with her and was perfectly happy acting as someone who simply kept her company and cheered her up.
Ayla already had an answer in her heart. Once she left here, she would talk to Max and explain everything clearly.
Ayla stood on a hillside at the end of a long path. No one came here to disturb her. When she turned around, she saw Draven appearing at the far end of the path.
Was Draven looking for her?
Ayla looked at him from a distance. Draven began walking toward her step by step.
Ayla remained where she was. At first everything had felt fine. But there was no one else around here, and the silence surrounded them. As Draven came closer, she suddenly felt inexplicably nervous. Her whole body became stiff and unnatural, and she started glancing around aimlessly.
It still felt awkward. So she turned and continued climbing up the hill.
At the very top was a scenic lookout point where most of the mountain range could be seen.
Behind her, Draven was getting closer and closer. She could hear the soft crunch of his footsteps on the dry branches and fallen leaves. Without realizing it, Ayla clenched her fists.
“Tired?” Draven asked as he reached her side and turned his head to look at her.
