Chapter 828 The Month Is Finally Up

Beneath that slightly mature exterior, the boyish charm of someone who’d just barely turned 23 finally peeked through.

“Still want to keep messing with me?”

Bria stared at Kaleb’s scheming expression, and honestly, the contrast caught her completely off guard in the best way.

But she was also genuinely pissed off, so she bared her teeth in a forced, almost creepy grin. “Kaleb, do you have any idea how badly I want to tear you apart right now?”

“If you think you can pull it off, bring it on.”

Bria was completely done with Kaleb, so she pinched the bridge of her nose, threw him a mock salute, and ground her teeth. “You’ve got some serious guts. The second I’m healed up, I’m coming for payback.”

Kaleb looked at her and smiled. “I’m all yours.”

Bria’s heart skipped a beat. This man had a way of letting his charm slip out without even trying, and she got hit by it every single time.

Kaleb definitely wasn’t joking around, and in the end he went right ahead and ratted the whole thing out to Bria’s family.

the Bria got chewed out by both of her parents in turn, and once Ayla and Draven heard about it too, whole family piled on. By the time they were done with her, the fight had drained out of her entirely. She sat in silence, her usual spark nowhere to be found.

After the car incident, Troy even sent a crew over specifically to inspect every vehicle she owned, and all of them came back clean. Only that one had been a genuine fluke.

Bria had been officially banned from any kind of street racing for nearly a year, with the order handed straight down to her bodyguards, unless she could somehow take them all on in a fight.

Bria was completely out of options. She was furious, and every single day she plotted exactly how she’d get back at Kaleb once the month was up. She white-knuckled her way through the whole thing, and now she could finally go settle the score with him.

Bria was back at full strength and brimming with ambition, ready to give Kaleb a proper lesson and break him of his rotten habit of tattling to her parents.

For that entire month, Kaleb had been a cold fish who wouldn’t let her get anywhere near him. At first Bria had genuinely figured it was because of her injured hand and thought he actually knew how to be considerate and take care of someone.

But later on, even after her injury had completely healed, Kaleb still kept his distance, and Bria finally put two and two together. That jerk was punishing her.

Their last blowup had been a major one, and cooling off took time. If Kaleb had just rolled over and given her exactly what she wanted right out of the gate so she could jump straight into the perks of being his

girlfriend, he probably would’ve been plenty irritated about it himself.

And of course, he wanted her to actually learn a lesson so she wouldn’t blow off her own safety the next time around.

That said, any guy with a girlfriend this gorgeous who wouldn’t even sneak in a hug or a kiss had to be totally out of his mind. Every time Bria saw that prim, serious face of his, she wanted to grind her teeth into dust. What kind of man keeps up an act this hard? He was laying it on way too thick.

But complaints aside, Bria also got the feeling Kaleb was stringing her along on purpose, baiting her, playing hard to get so she’d fall even harder for him and end up dying to be near him.

The more she thought about it, the more she was convinced that’s exactly what was going on.

The “sneaky and calculating” label was now officially stuck on Kaleb for good.

Now that the month was finally behind her, Bria looked back on it and decided the distance had actually been a good thing. That month had been a buffer.

They couldn’t get physically close, but they still shared regular meals and conversations, traded notes about what they’d been up to lately, and patched over the gaps, the fights, the resentment, the suspicion, and the jabs from the past few months.

The torn-open wounds slowly knit back together, and their hearts inched a little closer.

That month had taken them from strangers to familiar faces to actually understanding each other, which would only help them down the road.

The weather was beautiful today.

Bria was in a fantastic mood. She’d talked a big game about teaching Kaleb a lesson, but now that the moment was actually here, all she felt was happy, and torturing him wasn’t even on her mind.

Bria pulled up to the curb outside Kaleb’s office a full 30 minutes early, put on some music, and waited for him to clock out.

Bria was not a patient person by nature, but right now she had patience to spare, because with every hour that brought the meeting nearer, the happier she felt.

And then, finally, Bria spotted Kaleb.

The month-long sentence was over, and they both knew exactly what that meant. Once Kaleb got into the car, they exchanged a single look and broke into matching smiles.

Bria gave him a slow once-over, Handsome and sharp as ever. She asked sweetly, “What are you in the mood for tonight? Dinner’s on me.”

Kaleb said, “Whatever you’re craving.”
