Chapter 829 Sworn Enemies Turned Lovers

Finished

Bria leaned in for a closer look. “Your ears are bright red. You really are innocent, aren’t you? I feel like the creep here, and you’re the sweet, helpless guy I’m hitting on.”

Kaleb ignored her comment. “Are we going to dinner or not?”

Bria laughed, bright and brazen. “Yeah, of course we are.”

The second she finished, she shot Kaleb a flirty wink, started the car, and eased it forward as she turned the wheel.

After driving for a bit, Bria turned her head to look at Kaleb, the joy on her face impossible to miss. “Looks like I m pretty cut out to be a sugar mama.”

Bria had cracked that kind of joke more than a few times by now, and Kaleb didn’t really care. The gap in their family backgrounds was just a fact.

Kaleb had his own career goals. He was crushing it on his own terms, and he had enough confidence in himself that he wasn’t about to feel small just because his other half outranked him.

Whoever he ended up falling for had nothing to do with what they brought to the table. It was all about gut feeling and timing, and timing had brought him to Bria.

Bria was a high-society heiress living the glamorous life, and the fact that she’d picked him back was a kind of fate all on its own.

Bria’s family sat at the very top of the food chain, and marriage wasn’t about matching social standing for them. No matter who any of them married, the family’s interests wouldn’t take a hit, and they had zero need to use marriage alliances to boost their power.

When they fell for someone, there were no strings attached. They just followed their hearts, and being together meant everything. They actually wanted to be.

Kaleb had always loved how Bria carried herself like she had nothing to fear in the world, all bold swagger, because he himself would never be that fearless. So he was more than happy to watch her be stronger and bolder than he was.

“Guess I’ll just slack off then,” Kaleb deadpanned, slipping in his usual dry humor.

Bria immediately pushed back. “Nope, not happening. You’ve still got to put in the work. I’ll be straight with you-I have a thing for high achievers. You’ve seen my two brothers, and they’re tough as nails-real stand-up guys. If I brought home a guy who couldn’t measure up, my brothers would skin me alive.”

Kaleb’s career success was light-years ahead of any of the trust-fund kids she’d grown up around. She’d met countless people, her standards were sky-high, and if Kaleb didn’t have what it took, he never would’ve caught her eye in the first place.

Besides, the fact that Kaleb had the guts to go toe-to-toe with her brother Troy, and that he hadn’t given her the time of day at first either, was its own kind of credential

Kaleb said, “One of them is a real piece of work.”

Bria couldn’t help cracking up. “Still can’t let that go, huh? But fare. I’ll admit my brother can be kind of a piece of work. You and your sister might want to do some self-reflection too, though. How did you end up tangled up with us

There was something Bria had been holding back. “My looks, my body, my family cream of the crop. Loving me is the most natural thing in the world. But you, what made your bear pe Kaleb, you’d better think long and hard before you answer, because if I don’t like the answer. I’m ineraly kicking you out of this car just pretend I’m the domineering CEO and you’re the delicate dan don’t sweet-talk me right, I’m going to put you through the wringer?

Kaleb glanced over at Bria, who was practically glowing with mischief. “It’s simple. It’s just like to

“What about right now? We’re literally just talking”

“There are so many little moments, and I love every single one of them”

“So basically you just have a thing for me on instinct, no real reason behind it.” Bria looked at him. You’re not just feeding me a line to keep me happy, are you?”

I’m not buttering you up, Kaleb said seriously. “My life is dull, repetitive, and gray. You’re different. Every single thing you say is interesting
