Chapter 878 A Perfect Plan

Finished

Since giving birth and returning to Trensea with Edgar, Nina had been determined to secure her place. She didn’t think her ambition was excessive. She simply felt she should be the one to become Edgar’s wife. She had spent years by Edgar’s side, soothing him and coaxing him, and they even had a child together. So, even with Halle in the picture, Nina wasn’t that afraid.

So, even when she learned Edgar and Halle were getting married, she only panicked for a moment.

These days, seeing Edgar constantly come to her gave Nina even more confidence.

Edgar had carried Halle in his heart for years. Nina was jealous, but she had to admit that Halle now stood far above Edgar. A woman like her would only keep climbing. She wouldn’t look back.

Edgar had no self-awareness and still dared to insult her. Halle would never marry him. Their split was only a matter of time.

Nina only needed to add fuel to the fire at the right moment and force Edgar to be with her.

Ninå didn’t have much affection left for Edgar now. He was simply the best option she had access to. After all, Edgar’s family was worth billions, and he was good-looking.

Her own family was only worth a little over a million. She’d never lacked food or clothes growing up, but that was nothing compared to Edgar’s family.

If she found someone of equal status, her life wouldn’t be bad either. But men were all the same. Since she had been lucky enough to meet Edgar, she had no reason to regret it or be picky.

So, Nina was willing to act humbly and submissively/to comfort Edgar. Once she secured the position, everything would be easy.

Of course, she had been waiting for the right final push.

Hopefully, she wouldn’t have to wait too long.

Just as Halle was about to return from her business trip, Edgar’s grandmother suddenly fell seriously ill. She was rescued, but she might not survive the winter.

Dakota Bowman would be moved out of the ICU tomorrow, and everyone would be visiting.

Halle wasn’t officially married into the family yet, but she was engaged and technically the “newcomer’ in the family. It would be best if she could make time to visit the hospital.

Hayley couldn’t really say it to Halle directly. It would be better for Edgar to bring it up.

Edgar took it on himself. “Mom, even if you hadn’t reminded me, I would’ve told Halle. She’s coming back to Trensea tomorrow anyway. I’ll have her come straight over.”

Edgar hung up in an excellent mood. He’d been looking for a chance to make Halle stumble and Dakora s illness came at the perfect time

Podshed

During Halle’s business trip, Edgar hadn’t asked about her at all. Today was the first time he called.

Halle picked up quickly

Edgar didn’t waste time on pleasantries. “My grandmother had a stroke a few days ago. They managed to save her. She’s coming out of the ICU tomorrow. When you get back from your trip, come to the hospital with me.”

Halle’s expression shifted the second she heard it. Hayley hadn’t mentioned a word, and Dakota had always been kind to her. “Of course. I should go.”

Edgar asked, “Are you free at 5 p.m. tomorrow?”

Normally, Halle would be tied up until 10 p.m. But for Dakota, she would leave early. The old lady had been critically ill, even rushed into emergency care. No matter what, Halle should come back and show concern. She valued her work, yes, but she valued people, too. She knew which mattered more.

“I’m free. I’ll be there at 5 p.m.

“Good. I’ll wait for you at the hospital entrance.”

Edgar hung up and tossed the phone aside, a faint, contemptuous smile tugging at his mouth.

Just as expected, Halle believed him completely. The moment something happened in the family, she would come running.

Edgar hadn’t actually done much. He had only pushed the time back to 5 p.m. He and his parents had agreed on 4 p.m.

So, when Halle arrived “late,” his parents would naturally start thinking.
