Divorce and Freedom No More Homemaker for Him novel Chapter 882

Chapter 882 Goodbye

Halle realized. “You called Edgar?”

Tyler checked his watch. “Mm. He should be here any minute.”

Halle didn’t care about Edgar anymore. If he was really coming, she had no objection. Let him come. Besides, James knew her schedule for today and had said he would pick her up.

If Edgar delayed her for a while, so be it. James could wait.

Ten minutes later.

Edgar arrived by car.

Since leaving the hospital yesterday, he had been restless. He couldn’t figure out why Halle had invited his parents to dinner.

Halle hadn’t invited him. Instead, his father had called him.

Edgar had always had issues with his father. He hated the way Tyler looked at him, and after reaching adulthood, he rarely spent time with him. But when his father asked something of him, Edgar didn’t dare refuse.

Especially when it involved Halle.

After arriving at the parking lot, Edgar sat in his car for 10 minutes before finally bracing himself and heading to the private room.

The moment he opened the door, he saw his mother’s red-rimmed eyes.

Halle looked relatively calm.

Tyler exuded a low, heavy pressure. It wasn’t his usual dissatisfaction when lecturing Edgar about work. Something was very wrong.

Edgar sat down beside Halle as usual and asked, “What were you talking about?”

Halle looked at Hayley.

Edgar followed her gaze. Earlier, he’d only noticed that Hayley’s eyes were red. Now, it was obvious that she had been crying.

Edgar frowned. “Mom, were you crying? What happened?”

Hayley was about to tell him to apologize immediately, but Tyler cut her off. “Think about it yourself.

Tyler only had one son. Again and again, he gave Edgar chances, hoping the boy would show some backbone and admit what he had done on his own.

Even now, he was giving Edgar another chance.

Edgar’s first thought was of Dakota. He looked confused. “Grandma was saved, and her condition is stable. There shouldn’t be any problem, right?

Hayley had hoped Edgar would be smarter, especially in a situation like this. Now, she couldn’t tell whether he was pretending to be clueless or truly had no heart.

Last night, after learning that Halle wanted to break off the engagement, Hayley kept pressing her husband until he finally told her that Edgar had not only gotten involved with another woman, but even had a child with her. In that moment, she could hardly believe it.

After doing something this serious, Edgar still had the nerve to marry Halle–and the nerve to hide all of it from his parents.

He was almost unrecognizable as the son she knew.

Hayley didn’t dare imagine how much Halle had suffered.

But even now, Edgar was still playing dumb. Hayley was deeply, deeply disappointed.

Even if a tiny part of her had still hoped the two of them could end up together, that hope died here.

Edgar had brought all of this on himself.

Tyler was very good at controlling his temper, but even he couldn’t watch this anymore-especially with Halle sitting right there. He prompted Edgar, “Think about whether there’s something you’ve been hiding from us.”

Edgar’s heart gave a violent thud. His fists clenched.

Was it about him and Nina?

But Halle had promised not to tell his parents.

Edgar had always believed Halle could keep that promise. They had grown up together. He knew how she felt about him; he knew she wouldn’t lie to him. That trust even carried a kind of blind arrogance-as if no matter what he did, Halle would forgive him. Because of that, the matter with Nina had never weighed

T heavily on him.

Edgar’s face turned very, very pale.

For a long moment, he said nothing.

Tyler couldn’t stand it anymore. He reminded Edgar, “I called you here so you could explain everything Start from the beginning and tell us every detail.”

Edgar’s face was white.

Halle looked at his conflicted expression and realized that somehow, she could still soften toward him

The destructive power of first love really was something. Since she and Edgar would never end up together anyway, why keep making this harder for him?
