Chapter 96 He Doesn’t Care About Ayla at All

Ayla stepped right up to Juliet.

Kaleb’s fist clenched so tight the bones crackled.

“Aunt Juliet, what exactly did I do wrong just now?” Ayla asked with a face full of mild confusion.

Juliet was genuinely angry.

Juliet froze, furious and shocked.

“Ayla, how can you—”

Ayla didn’t want to hear a single word.

“Aunt Juliet, you already have your new family. Go live your perfect life. Why try to have everything both ways?”

The last time in the recovery center, Juliet couldn’t handle her truth.

It meant Juliet cared about appearances.

But she didn’t dare face it, so she couldn’t stomach harsh words.

Fine. Then it’s time to rip off the curtain.

“From now on, we’re two separate households. You don’t get to judge whether I’m right or wrong, and you certainly don’t get to tell me how to protect Kaleb.”

With that, Ayla stepped back.

Draven expression darkened at the mention of Troy.

Clearly, the name ruined his mood.

“His business has nothing to do with me. You want to fix it? Go fix it yourself.”

James’s eye twitched.

Draven thought of the mark on Ayla’s neck. His expression didn’t change, but his eyes dropped into a frozen shadow.

He stared at James for a long second. “What I do–why would I report to you?”

James was at a loss for words.

He spluttered for a good ten seconds, then got physically dragged out by Will.

“Tell me honestly–what the hell is happening with Draven?” James demanded.

Will patted him. “He and Ayla? No chance.”

“No chance? Then, why would he send her home?”

“Neighbors. Same direction,” Will said. “What else could it be?”
